It started on my left thigh around my 5th month (right after the morning sickness was done) a few spots here & there. I'm now 34 weeks along (almost at the end!!) For the past 3 days the rash has been flaring up-BAD & it's starting to go down my leg, appear on my tummy, my butt, back- I'm worried I'll be covered with this before delivery. I've made a appointment for tomorrow. So far I've tried: Ice packs, baking soda mix w/water, banana peel- I just did this last night & worked ok. I'm also looking to buy "Grandpa's tar soap" but would have to order it- I need something now. I'm trying to stay away from meds but I'm willing to try anything safe for me and baby. I hope the doctor is able to help & of course you guys too.

My question to you is what worked for you?

Cold Compress? Oatmeal Bath? Benedryl? Open Air as heat can increase the itchiness.

I had it from my belly to my knees and it was awful! Get the pine tar soap. It made mine go away. I got it at a natural food store. It shouldn't be that hard to find. I showered like 3 times a day just so I could use that soap and it helped so much.
Before that I had used so many creams etc. and they didn't help.
Also, I did take dandelion root tea which helped.
I followed my pine tar soap with an aveeno oatmeal or something lotion.
Good luck!

Oh my gosh, I am SO, SO SORRY! I had it with both my pregnancies and it was significantly worse with the second. Even the nurses and my OB told me it was the worse case they had ever seen.

None of the OTC stuff helped me. I got a tiny bit of relief from oatmeal bath and tea tree oil, but not really. I did buy a tar lotion too, which was very expensive and smelled, well like a construction site. It was terrible and it didn't help very much. To be honest, what helped me for reals was getting put on a steroid.

I was hesitant at first, and I will not lie to you I gained like 10lbs in a week or something gross, but it helped. I could not have gotten through without it. It is safe but it makes you hungry, more irritable and gain weight, but anything was better than the constant itching.

Also, be careful of what pain meds you get after the baby (I had c-sections) b/c one of them (and I of course can't remember which but it was either Vicodin or Percoset) made the itching worse.

Hang in there. I know how bad it is, trust me! PLUS, if you really want to feel better I also had a case of poison ivy and scabies on top of my PUPP. Be glad you don't have that to contend with!!! :)

I have no answers, but if you really want to try the tar soap, check at the health food stores near you. I live in a fairly small town, but we do have a health food store. And it carries all manner of things.. including several varieties of "tar soap"....

I had it with both of my pregnancies. Unfortunately nothing helped a great deal. I did get some relief from taking a really hot shower. It itches like hell when you are in the hot water but then stops the itching for a bit when you are out of the shower. Steroid injections didn't do much for me. Delivery is the only cure. I feel so bad for you. It is awful!

I had that with my second pregnancy and it's a bummer! I used the coal tar soap and it made a huge difference. I found mine at Whole
Foods so you may be able to find it locally if you go to a health food store or organic/natural grocer. I also had some minor relief with Aveeno and Nuetragena lotions. Both brands make an anti itch lotion. Finally, try a cool bath with oatmeal and baking soda in the water. Good luck!
