You should qualify for medicaid. Even if you don't qualify for 100% payment from the state, they should pay a huge portion of any bills. You can go in to apply and if you qualify, they can pretty much tell you right then. If you don't qualify, they can give you some ideas of companies that provide cheap insurance. Here is a link to the application
http://www.dss.mo.gov/fsd/pdf/im1ma_0706.pdf
Fill it out and take it in to your county's health dept.
Good luck!!

There is a women's clinic in Kansas City that goes by your income for doctor visits. I don't remember exactly where it is but took a lady there once that was low income and didn't have insurance. It is probably listed in the phone book.

In wichita try GraceMed, Hunter Healthcare Clinic, or United Metodist Open Door (used to be UM Urban Ministery) all have clinics and resources that can get you care and sometimes even the medication. on a sliding scale. I'd also encourage you to try to find another 2nd job or something else that you can get insurance thru. Don't know what your abilities are but even my summer babysitters make that much per week. I know even nurse aides can get on the job training as well as phlebotomists in the hospitals and this is someplace you can definitely get insurance thru. Good luck

Oh something I forgot to say is that you really need to calculate how much it will really cost to go to the dr. and the cost of procedures and medications, you may find that the cost of insurance won't pay for itself. If you are a college student you can get insurance through a company that your school will have info about that costs way less that you can get per semester.

K., if you are in Illlinois, you should qualify for kidcare, there is health coverage for your child, and you should also be able to be included. For women in Southern Illinois, there is Little Egypt, women's health alliance. Go to the local Dept. of Human Services, they will be able to help you.

K., you didn't say where you lived. If you live in the Independence area or Kansas City area. Anyway Truman Hospital has a clinic and they go by your income. You could go there. As far as working for Little Ceasar's, that doesn't pay much of anything. I can get you a better job if you want with better pay than five dollars an hour. Email me ____@____.com.

Hi K., there are some cheap plans out there for emergency only type coverage. I commend you for being responsible enough to protect yourself. We use Donald Rehagen at Competitive Plan Design. He will be able to answer any questions you might have specific to your situation. He is very good at finding the right plans for you, the right coverage for what you need. He's not the "saleman" type--he's very nice and informative. His number is ###-###-#### and hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., I believe. Hope it works out! God Bless!

You didn't mention what your issues are, so I thought I would throw out there that if your issues are "female stuff" you can always go to Planned Parenthood without insurance. I have several friends who have gone there and I believe they charge based on income.

I was not sure if you were looking for insurance for your self or for your children. If it is for your children and you live in the state of Kansas you should check into Health Wave. It is a low cost or no cost insurance program offered for children in the state of KS. Qualification is based on household income. The website is www.kansashealthwave.org

Hi K.- I don't know about cheap insurance, but you could try one of the various health centers. There are the People's Health Centers, the Myrtle Hilliard Davis Centers and a couple of others. Google health centers. These places specialize in assisting people with no or little insurance, so everything is at a sliding scale and is based on your income.

Good luck! Hope it works out for you.

I noticed that you are in Il. In Mo you would NOT qualify for medicaid. Every state offers different types of services so I would apply anyway. We have community health centers that offer sliding fees if you meet income requirements. Call your local health dept to find out if such services are offered in your area.

I am not sure what you are going to qualify for since you live with your parents...of course your best bet is to find a job that offers insurance and take advantage of that but in todays economy that is easier said than done.
From what you say you are earning a week, it doesnt sound like you are working full time...are you a college student??? If so...your school should offer some sort of medical program. You also might want to check into the county health clinic where you live...they normally have good doctors that provide services there and they charge according to what you can afford to pay.
But...your ultimate goal needs to be a full time job with a company that helps provide insurance...that is really the way to go.
Good luck!!!
