Hi, I am looking into buying a bike trailer to haul my kids around the neighborhood. I really do not want to spend a lot of money for one of the high-end ones (Burley, etc.) I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what brand/model to buy. I am particularly curious about the InStep, Schwinn, and Aosom trailers. I really only plan on staying on the pavement and I don't live where it's very hilly. Also, do most trailers attach to any kind of bike? I have a cruiser meant for more leisurely rides. I would appreciate any advice that you can all give me. Thanks!

I got an InStep on Amazon for around $80-$85 and it's almost perfect. We use it for leisurely rides to the park about 1 mile away and as a stroller at times. My only complaint is that-never having seen the inside of a bike trailer before-I assumed it would have a hard seat and the one I bought did not. It was more of a sling-style seat. Our toddler has never made issue of it, so neither have I.

I would check Amazon and read some of the customer reviews. If you're not a serious cyclist, something under $100-$150 should be easy to find.

Hello. I was given a schwinn bike trailer from my sister and it's great. I also have a cruiser style bike which it fits just fine. I would recomend it. I believe it is priced about mid-range. You should check craigs list. I've been on it lately looking for push toys and have seen several bike trailers reasonably priced. Go Green and buy gently used!
PS-I was lucky enough to get one ride in already with my 9 month old, it was really nice and he loved it. Have fun!

Hi K.,

I had a bad experience with the inexpensive InStep from Target (the fabric seat was tearing after using the trailer only twice). I bought a Croozer single on eBay as a new item, fairly cheap (was less than a used Burley). It comes with the bike trailer arm, 2 hitches (one for mom's bike and one for dad's bike), a stroller wheel and a jogger wheel. Everything in one package - the other brands seem to tack on for all the extras. I've been using the Croozer for two years and still love it! They come in singles and doubles. http://www.biketrailershop.com/catalog/croozer-m-39.html

Forgot to mention - my husband and I both have cruisers and this trailer works fine with them. The hitches were easy to attach too.

I agree...I have the Schwinn and have really no complaints about it. I bought it on-line last spring and paid about $165 (compared to the burley for over $250)...that was the cheapest I could find in stores or on-line. The only complaint I have is the buckles are VERY tight and difficult to get out. I think I will buy small hooks (I don't know what they're called, but they look like climbing hooks) to use. Someone suggested that on a reviewer site. I use it in the street and on the sidewalks and it works out great. I'm very happy right now that I didn't spend the extra money b/c I'm very happy with the one we have now.

Save your money and get the one Target sells for about $100. I think it's by schwinn. I bought it 8 years ago and it still works great. I carted my two boys around til they were 5 and 7! Never thought I could get so much use out of it.

It comes with an attachment that goes on the wheel of your bike (in the center of the spokes) It clips on easily, folds up easily for storing and is very safe. I ride in the street with it and cars are always very cautious driving by, knowing there are children in there.

Have fun, you'll love it.

Love my Instep. I bought it used/new from a friend. Check craigslist, etc. this it the type of thing people some buy and then don't use.

Good luck!
