Hello, I just gave labor september 09 and i bled the 6 weeks after that and decided not to take birthcontrol because it made me feel kinda weird, but anyway i have gotten a periods after the 6 weeks of miserable bleeding. they started in novemberish and i have been having one ever since all 31 days apart..except for this month, march. I have not gotten any period and i cant figure out why.. im 8 days late and i am not sure whats going on? i called my obgyn and he told me to take a preg test, and so i did but it came out neg. I dont know if its because im breastfeeding or if i am preg. i feel like im actually on my period though i have the bache aches, the cramps the moodyness etc. but i dont think im preg i took a digital one again and it said neg. again! my husband says its because of the hormones and the brestfeeding but im about to be 20 and i just want to make sure that im not preg again lol

What can I do next?

Same thing here! My doc said it was completely normal for women who are breastfeeding to have a period one month and not the next or not have one at all, etc. I'm trying not to worry since I have no other pregnancy symptoms.

It's probley because you're breastfeeding. My periods were very irregular until I stopped breastfeeding. I wouldn't worry about it unless you really feel like your pregnant.

Hi,

Okay, the best thing that I suggest is going in for a blood pregnancy test. When I was pregnant with my first child, it took my fourth home pregnancy test to tell me that I was pregnant, after I was already pregnant for two months!! I. not trying to scare you but, they say one and four woman will misread a pregnancy test, not saying that you did because my said either negative or inconclusive every time until the last time. Are you having any type of pregnancy symptoms? You know, it may be because of stress, have you experienced any new stress factors? I hope this helps because if it is stress related, not being sure is keeping you from not having your period along with many other possible factors. good luck.............

Breast feeding will cause this. Your harmones play a very large part in your
periods. Especially if you are not producing the same amount of milk. You'll
be ok as soon as you stop beast feeding. Your birth control pills are not the normal regular birth control pills you would take. They are a milder kind and at times you will not get your normal cycle. Hang in there, It will be ok.

Your periods will likely be irregular as long as you are breastfeeding. Even after your periods start again, ovulation can be suppressed or delayed, especially if the baby is going through a growth spurt and nurses more than usual.

But you might try taking a non-digital home pregnancy test, as the digital ones require twice as much HcG as the non-digital ones. You can find a chart with test sensitivies here: http://www.babyhopes.com/pregnancy-test-sensitivity-compa....

My daughter had regular light periods before she gave birth to her first baby. They changed after that. She was irregular and the flow heavier. She was 20 when her first was born.

I think pregnancy can permanently change the pattern of your periods. I also know that many women experience the same sort of thing that you describe after giving birth.

I've never been pregnant and there have been times that I skipped a month or two. And times that my period lasted for a month. Eventually I learned that I had endometriosis. But it still makes no sense to me that I would have a "normal" period for a couple of months and then not have one. I couldn't expect anything to remain the same.

I've been thru menopause for 20 years or so and I still feel like I'm going to get my period from time to time. Our symptoms are caused by many factors that aren't directly related to having a flow. We do have such wonderfully complicated bodies.

Our bodies are always changing. Mine did because of endometriosis and most likely other influences as well. Your body is different because of the hormones put out during and now after your pregnancy. As difficult as it is, I suggest that you try to not worry about it. I also recommend that you get started on birth control so that you won't have this much worry. Not having a period or being constantly on a period is not a guarentee that you won't get pregnant. One of my friends got pregnant the first month after giving birth, while she was still bleeding.

I'm saying that it's unlikely that you are pregnant but take care so that you won't have to wonder so strongly.
