i'm not a big fan of ultrasounds, especially that early. I would wait just a little bit and take another blood test in a week.
I have taken three at home test that showed positive but the blood test from the dr showed negative. Should I still have an ultrasound done?

Hey. I would just go to my ob and she would do a simple ultra sound in the room. I am not patient enough to wait a couple of weeks. If you are then just wait and go back and have the blood test again. Just make sure you live like your pregnant incase you are. Also your hormones might still be messed up from having the baby, because it takes up to a year for it to get back to normal. Either way dont worry about the ultra sound. With my last 3 I had them every month because of medicine I take for my heart, and it didnt affect my kids.
Blood tests can be wrong! Saliva is the MOST accurate, not blood. I would bet you are, or definatly have something producing the pregnacy hormone. I would do the ultrasound or whatever to find out for sure. If it turns out your not pregnant a few weeks from now and your still showing a positive test, you need to see your doctor for a full blood panel. Tell them your history, this could be from something else if not from a baby! Good luck! Let us know how it turns out!
Hi Kenya, You may want to get the ultrasound done just to give you peace of mind. Hope everything works out. C..
I would suggest that you wait about 2-3 weeks and take the blood test over again. This happened to me also. I went to the doctor and my blood tests came back negative twice. I waited for about a month and then returned and sure enough, I was pregnant.
May GOD be with you!
When I thought I was preggo (missed period and positive home test) I ask the doctor to do a blood test. Instead he opted for the ultrasound. yep i was preggo. i say go with the ultrasound!
You should re-contact your physician's office. You may be getting false positives on the home pregancy tests or you may have gotten a false negative on the blood test. Also laboratories do make mistakes.
In any event you need to follow up with you physician.

I think that you should wait a few days and re test via the Doctor, since it is more accurate. I would worry about insurance not paying for the ultrasound as well, but to find out why three at home tests came out positive, it might be necessary. Not to scare you, but I had a friend who had the same thing going on, and it turned out she had an ectopic pregnancy and it was sporadically causing her hormone levels to surge, giving the positive result sometimes. Good luck, I hope you find out what is going on soon!
Hi Kyna! I would probably trust the blood test from the doctor. Home pregnancy tests are not as reliable as what the doctor's office has. Besides, I don't think that any insurance would pay to have an ultrasound done, since the doctor says that you aren't pregnant. If you wanted to have one done anyhow, you would have to pay for it yourself.

yes, I would. It wont hurt. 3 tests positive is pretty big!
Goodluck!
I would, I took three blood test with in 3 to 4 times within a couple of months last year and they came back negative. Well, I have a 2 1/2 month old now. I have pollycistic ovarian syndroms so it is hard to get pregnant. I am thankful that God proved doctors wrong and blessed us with our second wonderful baby boy.
I would trust the Doc's test since they take urine and sometimes draw blood. Check the expiration dates on your tests. That's kind of odd because the store bought tests are usually pretty accurate. Are you sure you used it properly?

the same thing happened to my good friend and she eventually got a positive from the blood test. i say keep taking the blood test.
That happened to me with my first (currently pregnant with 5th) and the doc said that I wasn't pregnant and gave me provera to start my period....after 12 days, didn't start, went back to doc and I was indeed pregnant. Just wait a couple of weeks and test yourself again and then have doc test you too.
I say ask for the ultrasound....... it will give you peace of mind either way.
When I tried getting pregnant with my second child. I was going to the fertility doc. When I missed my period the doc took a blood test. It came back neg. He gave me drugs to induce my period. It never came. He took another blood test. Still neg. So he did an ultrasound to see what the problem was. I was pregnant. I would ask for an ultrasound. Be prepared though that insurance might not pay for it if your doc doesn't think you need one.
