I Really Need a Good Dermatologist for Severe Eczema

Over the past few years I have developed eczema, which has steadily increased in severity. I have been to a few doctors, but their practices have been more cosmetically focused-botox, chemical peels, etc. I am looking for a dermatologist (or other doctor) who specializes in, or has good experience with, treating eczema. My presentation seems to be somewhat atypical, and has not responded to any of the usual creams, lotions, potions, etc. I am really miserable and really want some relief. I would love to hear any all recommendations you might have. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Hi C., I have been through dermatologists my whole life and have basically been diagnosed with everything from eczema to rosacea to dermatitis and in between. The treatments have varied too - what I am learning now is that I probably have all 3...and depending on the severity of the breakout I can have all 3 together - I often have to use a few different treatments. I know this isn't your question but my current derm is through the Kaiser network so I can't really help you with a recommendation other than to say I normally now look for a Dr. on the younger side hoping they have heard all the new treatments :)

However, I am VERY surprised at the recs for Botox and peels?? My skin hurts just thinking about that!! I can't believe a Dr. would recommend that for eczema...you definitely need someone more informed! Currently I am on a treatment of doxycycline antibiotic and Elidel cream and my skin is responding really well....GOOD LUCK!

Hi C.,
I am no expert but my little 7 month old baby has been fighting with eczema for the past couple of months now. I am still breastfeeding and have been doing a lot of research on this issue. What I have found is that eczema is triggered by what you are ingesting. The 2 trigers that keep coming up through my research is dairy and wheat. Have you tried removing either one of these from your diet? I have removed dairy from my diet and my little is finally now starting to get better, her eczema is starting to go away and returning to her normal self! So my suggestion is to start with removing either dairy or wheat and see what happens. It may take some time to figure out what your trigger is but I would gather your up for trying anything at this point. I hope you find this to be helpful, I sympthize with you! Good luck!!

PS - I found a company that sells the most awesome products USDA 100% Organic, might be worth something to check them out as I found some great products for my baby. the website is http://www.naturesparadiseorganics.com/page/page/4959020.htm

C., I know you say you don't respond well to creams, lotions and potions, but if you are willing to try one more, I would love to give you a free sample of a product called Renew. It has been proven to work better, faster, longer and cost less than Eucerin. I am in Concord, and can meet you somewhere to give it to you. I really think it would help. Contact me and we'll make it happen. J.

Dear C.,
This really isn't all that uncommon. What people do not understand is that when out skin breaks "out" with pimples or flaking or rashes etc. that is the body trying to dump toxins through the skin. Most Americans digestive systems are so sluggish that we cannot get rid of our toxins so they try to come out in other ways. What you need is concentrated whole food nutrition to feed your body so that it can digest properly and keep you for further and worsening health problems. If you like I will send you a free DVD about the benefits of these foods that have help me and many others all over the world.
