Anyone know how to avoid this or get rid of it? Does it have to do with our water softener? It is an in the fridge maker with a filter system.

OK...once again I have a filter that works both the ice and water dispenser in the fridge. The filter was just replaced 2 months ago. (there is a sensor that tells me when to replace). I don't use trays so that is not the issue.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I dug a little more online and it sounds like it is calcium because of our hard water. I am still perplexed as to why between the water softener and the fridge filter we still have it though.

What do you mean "white stuff"? It could be due to air in the water. Not all icecubes are crystal clear and there's really no way to avoid it unless you "bump" the trays before you set them in the freezer.

We have this problem too. It's because we have hard water. When I start noticing the white stuff I usually clean out the ice bin and the ice maker. The only thing I've found that really helps is making sure the water filter in the fridge is replaced every few months.

Need to change your filter once a year....could be the problem.

Usually it's from the minerals and fluroide in the water. Check if you can buy a filter for the freezer ice cube maker.
