I am wanting to find a gift for my husband who sings and plays guitar as a hobby. I want to spend around $50. Any ideas?

What can I do next?

Hi there,
My husband also plays guitar as a hobby and has asked for a software program to help him be able to record his own music on the computer - there are several out there and I'm not sure which one he wants, but I think some might be in that price range. I also agree - when in doubt a musician can always find something they love with a Guitar Center gift certificate!

If he doesn't have one already, a battery powered guitar tuner might be an idea... my husband loves his...he loves his guitars also!

when i'm in doubt i give my husband a gift card to Guitar Center - his favorite place to shop!

I've also given him subscriptions to "Guitar Player" and "Guitar World" magazines. [I bought one copy of each from Barnes & Noble, wrapped them up with bows, to present to him on Christmas or his birthday...and then told him he'd expect to receive a new magazine each month for a year. My husband says Guitar Player is a better magazine. He loves getting them every month -- they have guitar playing tips, interviews, some sheet music...and I think one magazine give links to their website that give subscribers video demonstrations.

Other than that...there's not much to buy individually that is less than $50....other than guitar strings, picks, guitar straps, etc. All of those guitar accessories are so expensive. One year I did buy him a cleaning set...it came with special guitar cleaner (for classical/acoustic wood); cloths to clean strings; etc. He doesn't use that very much though.

There are also neat digital tuners ...but your husband may have one of those already. Although my husband has perfect pitch, he can hear notes and distinguish what they are, he loves his digital tuner -- it reassurance to him that all his strings are in tune.

thought of one more thing....[can you tell, my husband LOVES to play his guitar so I have to come up with new gift ideas every year]....
if your husband can read music....i like to buy my hubby new songbooks. usually ones of his favorite rock bands...or classic rock bands.
one year, I bought him different songbooks (can range around $20 each) and I bought him a music stand so he could read his songbook without having to place paperweights down.

You could also buy him a guitar stand that lets him keep his guitar standing (out of the case). The only problem with this...it encourages young children to pick it up too! so my husband usually keeps his guitars in their cases.

If he is new to guitar playing, buy him a lesson. Another option would be to buy him a cusomized guitar pick. For example, if he likes the Dallas Cowboys, get him a pick with the star on it, or maybe his initials. Hope that helps.
