A budget friendly and FUN idea my niece did around this age was a no Sleeping pajama party. Her guests came to her house in PJ's, and did all the pajama party things--manicures, pedicures, decorated pillowcases with fabric paint, laid on sleeping bags to watch a movie...and left before bedtime. Go to Family Fun website for more ideas. OR, allow her to just choose a select group of friends to go for a pedicure together, or to a fun place like Melting Pot or even Sweet and Sassy. What about renting a limo to go look at Christmas lights with her friends? But, you DON'T have to spend a lot to make it special.

Some of the ideas I have are to take her and 3 or 4 friends to get manicures and/or pedicures. You could also take them to a tea room, out to lunch and to see a movie or some kind of arts and crafts place where they can make something. Like a pottery studio where they actually make whatever they like it, fire it and then paint it. Hope this helps. Good luck!

My daughter usually comes up with her own ideas, but here are some that I've seen or done. Take the girls (Daughter & friends) to the mall to get nails done, or just for dinner in the food court and give each $5.00 to spend at Claire's (for jewelry and hair things). My daughter this year chose to go to the movies, so we went to the $1.00 show in NRH, then to Cici's for dinner, and they worked on a craft at our house afterwards. The girls made dominoe necklaces. You could also make bottlecap necklaces or tie dye shirts at the house with just a few girls. If she's into cooking, you could have the girls over to make a meal or a dessert. I also went to a party where the mom had already made small cakes for all the kids and then gave them sprinkles and icing to decorate their own cakes. She used the Glad tupperware things inverted to put the cakes in for the kids to take home. Basically, see what she is interested in and work from there. You could also take them to the American Girl store for lunch. You don't have to do the party package, just take them there for lunch and maybe you could get them all a soft cover book as a favor? Oh, and we were at Justice and they had a party package where the girls would get a shirt and then decorate it with whatever, you can get the iron ons at Hobby Lobby or JoAnns, or even Walmart and let the girls decorate their own shirts. You might check out familyfun.com to see if they have any ideas as well.

When I was 12 my mom took me and 4 girlfriends to Six Flags. It was a huge hit and then my friends stayed over for a slumber party afterward. 4 friends was the perfect amount because everyone had someone to ride with including my mom who loved roller coasters as much as we did.

Cupcake baking party. Have you seen the book Hello Cupcake? Really creative ideas using store-bought icing and cupcake mix. To decorate you use ziplock baggies filled with colored icing and make cupcakes of your choice. Here's a link: http://www.hellocupcakebook.com/

Karaoke Party. You can rent or buy a karaoke machine and let the girls sing the night away. You could make this a themed party and bring in sushi take out (if they like that).

Pool party or water park party.

Mani/Pedi party.

Scavenger Hunt party. I remember one of my friends had one of these and it was a BLAST! We had the hunt in the mall and the friend's mom and worked out the hunt with several stores in the mall (with the managers). Then we saw a movie and had popcorn and snacks.

I do not know how small you are taliking about based on your requesst.

I do know girls LOVE spa mani/pedis and anything to do with makeup.

Also..........at this age, we did twice a limo ride through town with a bunch of girls, picking them up personally and it was a huge hit. The limo was around $300 at the time (can't say that $$ for now) but the girls had a great time. Came back here with cake, pizza, crafts and sleepover. Great party!

Good luck. We used Allen Limo

Hi M.,

I have something fun for your 12 year olds. I'm an Arbonne Independent Consultant and I do Hollywood Makeovers. I would change it up a little for the 12 year olds - show them how to take care of their skin with the skin care line, apply a light makeup application. Then they could do each other's nails...you could maybe purchase lipgloss and eyeshadow from our f.y.i. teen line for them as a party gift. Let me know if this interests you and I could come and show you our products so you know what Arbonne is all about....pure, safe and beneficial products.
Here's my contact info:

Some of the girls only clothing stores have an option to have a party in the store with nail painting and dress up. I know it will be cold in Dec but maybe get all the girls to dress up in warm pajamas and comfy slippers and take them to see a drive-in movie and they can all get under blankets and watch a movie with hot chocolate.

Sleepover- tie dye shirts (liquid RIT dye and each girl brings an item to tie dye) or decorate flip flops (tie strips of fabric or ribbon to dollar store flip flops), flash light tag in neighborhood park, makeup and fingernail polish, movies with pizza and popcorn, pancakes for breakfast. Buy 2 liter bottles of soda and disposable coffee cups with lids to cut down on the waste.
The tie dye shirts were a hit at our last party and all the kids wore them to school the next school day.

My Neice took her daughter and a few frinds to a hotel near North Park mall. The hotel offered a huge room or maybe two rooms ? They provided a lomo or ride to North Park Mall for shopping, swimming in an indoor pool, pizza delivered and in room movie (s) and I think Mom took a friend and they did nails and such. Kinda think breakfast in the morning too ? It was for a very reasonable price - I don't think it was much at all. Her B-day is in December also, so the swimming was great the girls thoght. If you want the name of hotel let me know.

We'd LOVE to have her party out at our camp - www.AdventureDayCamps.com - if you have it during the week while we are still in session (until Aug 21st) - I can discount our normal rate of $225 for a 2 hour party.

They can try archery, target shooting, kayaking, and more. If they come on the day we have our inflatable water slide/obstacle course, they can use that as well.

Give me a call at ###-###-#### if you want to discuss options. We are located at Meadowmere Park on Lake Grapevine.

Last year we got a rook at the Great Wolf Lodge (kids cabin) and allowed two of her friends to come. (there are 3 beds in the kids cabin, and a Queen size bed for the adults outside of the cabin) We brought a lot of our own food to save on money because the room had a fridge and a microwave. The water park is included in the the price of the room so that was covered too.

This year we took her and one friend to Medieval Times (kids were free with paying adult) and then stayed the night at the Hyatt Regency downtown ($52.00 courtesy of name your own price on Priceline.com) Honestly they loved Medieval Times, but they would have been happy eating anywhere and staying at a fancy hotel, the hotel was their favorite part! She has already asked that next year for her bday party to stay at a hotel.

My husband and I are professional clowns living in Anna. We offer facepainting, balloons, friendship bracelets (a hit with the Tweens), magic, comedy along with fun interaction and games. We've entertained at birthday parties and large events like the Plano Balloon Festival.

Our prices are very reasonable (we have four great kids of our own so we know how expensive things can get)and we do our best to work within a person's buget.

Please feel free to take a look at our website at www.freewebs.com/bubblesandwowza for samples of our work.

Give us a call at ###-###-#### if you have any questions at all.

Hope to hear from you,
