You may already know this, but if you go to "Familyfun.com", they have a bunch of crafts, kiddie recipes, etc. etc. etc. I go there daily!!!
My seven year old loves doing arts and crafts. Does anyone have any arts and crafts ideas. We need new ones to add to our collection.

I also have two kids that love to do crafts. I found that the best things for the kids are usually the cheapest. I buy the foam and felt sheets from the craft store and the kids go crazy! I have a whole box of glue sticks, "puff" paints, stickers, embellishments (little pom-poms, shapes, etc.), and decorative scissors. We make door hangers, cards, holiday decorations, etc. Recently, I bought some foam board and made a fort for all of my sons G.I. Joes. He got to decorate it himself and that in itself took him a week. Also, the craft store usually has some pretty neat activity kits.
I haven't got a lot of ideas for you because my son is only 1 year. But I have been getting a magazine called "Family Fun" for a few months and it has lots of crafts and fun things to do with your kids and family - I look forward to my son being old enough to do all the neat stuff in there! So I recommend that magazine to you and I've also heard of a magazine that Nickoloden produces and supposedly has a lot of crafts too. Also, check Disney Channel.com for craft ideas. Happy crafting!
I found a book called The Ultimate Book of Kid Concoctions it uses household ingredients. It also teaches them measuring and math.
We make books. We have one with animals, he draws an animal for each letter, then he writes a little fact about the animal from a book or the internet.
Also, we usualy make crafts for the windows each holiday.
I save just about everything in the house, cereal boxes, toilet paper rolls, we go to JoAnn's and clear out their clearance. He just puts stuff together I just let him usehis imagination and just sit back and help when needed. He once made an entire coloseum out of construction paper for his guys to fight in.
Visit all the mom websites and childrens network sites like Disney and such. They all have free craft and fun time ideas. I tend to get a little wild with my kids and do really out there stuff that most parents would never dream of. There was a kids bedroom that we all painted in my old house we got out the finger paints and went to town. When people came over they liked the idea because it was fun and memorable and it also saved a lot of time on decorating. When we sold the house it was easy to cover with one coat of paint because we used water based paint and washed the walls first. Get crazy, take a chance, create a memory while you have fun. Good luck B.
we made this for christmas, but it would be cute for year-round:

We found it works best if you trace the hand, cut out a stencit, and then sponge paint onto the fabric. (might be easier with older kids though ;)

hello S., oh please say you have started scrapbooking with your child. If not, she will love it, you can do it relatively inexpensively and it is something very fun that she can do on her own or with your help that you can do together. So many aspects of her life she can scrapbook, from school to activities, friends and family outings and vacations. When there are no pictures to add to the scrapbook you can do pre made pages and or make tags or other embellishments to include on the pages when your ready to make them. Walmart as well as a couple of scrapbook stores in the area offer some fun papers and supplies. Please include your two year old also you can make a hand print on acid free paper and file away for when she can start making her own or you can start her scrapbook now and when she gets older she can work on her school albums. good luck. S.
I have one but it's kind of a family secret.

My younger brother really likes making keychains from beads. You know, like the lizards and snakes and stuff on a string?

I can't wait until my son is old enough to do crafts :)
I know this is pretty late but I have an 8 year old and her new favorite thing to do is window clings. They have the paint at Jo-Ann fabrics I know for sure and I just print off simple pictures of the net, put the paper in a gallon size ziploc bag nad she traces them with the paints. She's dyslexic and I love how this project helps her concentrate. Plus my boyfriend and I have kinda gotten into it also. He has window clings everywhere. Ha Ha I do alot of seasonal stuff. Its alot of fun and I love that we all do it together. The only thing that I don't like is waiting a day for them to dry.
HI. I'm the new kid.
I love the idea about making books. Longs, Walgreens, Target, and even the Dollar Stores have those cheap little photo albums and brag books for $1-$2. We make little books on everything. I, too, have a big girl and a 2-year-old. So the little one plays with scraps and just likes sticking them in and out of sleeves and looking at things while learning the new words and images.
My big girl makes "picture dictionaries" for the baby, alphabet books, prose and even fiction. She has a great audience for her art and writing. If I get double prints we even include photos of our family and friends. Index cards work great as the paper to go in the little brag book-sized albums. And they are great for the car.
It's sweet, cheap & fun. And when there's a great one, Mommy can steal it before the toddler totally mangles it.
Enjoy!
