We have done so many birthday parties at home in which the kids had a blast, but I am a little concern now that they are having some tweenies attitude.... we have done treasure hunt, piñata, scavenger hunt, trampoline, games and water stuff! Anything else that you can recommend form my daughter's party coming in about 10 days? I am scared! About 30 7 or 8 years old kids at home!!!!! Help!!! Hope it doesn't rain!

I am adding this info:

I would love to do something simple! But my daughter is a social buterfly an wants to invite the whole classroom plus some more, I will be having about (more) 30 kids including boys, thay is why I am a little desperate :). And she wants to do it at home like we always did. We have a huge backyard so the kids love to play there.
We had enjoyed Amy's birthdays in the past a lot! About 3 hours of non stop fun, but 8 years old sounds more grown up and I am concerned that some of the kids may not find all sorts of games that atractive any more. Then...I won't know what else to do! I would like ideas of games to add to the ones we already do. The more the merrier!
Thanks again!

So What Happened?

Thanks! That was an awesome idea, I will definetly use some of your ideas in my doughter's birthday party. Since we go camping very often during summer, we have plenty of camping stuff and will mix water games with camping things for a lot new way of having fun, this is the twist that I was looking for to change from our every year outdoor party blast! I love the idea of using some dinosaur stuff too! Fossil hunt or dinosaur eggs hunt!
Thanks again!

I am actually planning a party for a friends boy right now and I thought the theme I am using might work for you.

Camping: If you have a great backyard it would be perfect.
All ages love to camp. And they don't have to spend the night, just have it early evening. Here are some ideas for the party:
**Pitch a tent for decoration
**Campfire (have them gather sticks and help make fire)
**Campfire songs/stories
**S'mores
**Mom: You would be the camp director and if you know some high school kids they could come and be camp counselors and help with the activities. Better yet ask a few girl scouts!
**Have camp check-in when they arrive to make it official.
**Have an Art project: lanyards, etc.
**face painting
**3 legged races/sack race
**Backpack relay: Have several camping items and 2 back packs, two teams. Start with empty backpack, have each team fill the backpack with the items, race to the other end of the yard, un-pack and then the next person on their team pack, run, unpack. First team to finish wins!
**Food: hot dogs, trail mix, ants on a log (peanut butter, celery, raisins), Bug Juice to drink....even out of canteens they can take home.
US Toy has a ton of stuff for goodie bags: Flashlights, lighting bug holders, compass, etc.
Serve food on disposable pie containers ($1 store)
Decorate with re/white table plastic table covers, put plastic ants all over the table.

I have a million other ideas.......email me if you would like some more help. I actually help all my friends out with party planning, invitaions, cakes, etc. :) It's my favorite hobby!
Good Luck,
S.

Hi Mariana,

At one of the Beauty Schools out here they have where the girls can get up do's and makeup done. Not sure how much it costs but I think the girls might like that. You could also have them make there own icecream bowls when they are done. You could also maybe buy play makeup and some pedicure and manicure stuff and do a party at home if you have help that would be good as well. Maybe one of your friends could help do the pedicures or manicures or let the girls do them to each other.

If it is going to be a smaller party then you can take them to Libby Lu in the mall and do makeovers. Hope this helps..

My mum did a themed birthday for my 10th birthday. I was into dinosaurs at the time, so naturally that was the theme. She painted an old sheet with dinosaurs, my name and hung it over our driveway as a beacon to the parents. My cake was in the shape of a dinosaur, the goodie bags were tins with a different dinosaur for each kid with their names on it. The boys got the 'scary' one and the girls got the 'cute' ones. She had a dinosaur egg hunt using goose eggs painted in a mottled coloring. We had a prehistoric waterslide (a slip 'n slide with dinosaur cut-outs along the path. Our backyard was an over-grown Japanese garden, so she put a tape of dinosaur sounds on and we ate bronto-burgers and rex dogs in the forest with the dinosaurs.

Basically she took the theme and ran with it. It was over the top and excessive and people still talk about it. It was the best party with chessy games and I can't wait to have a party like that for my son.

Just another thought would be a LUAU. Make a fake beach on the table with sand, shells and blue saran wrap...put all the munchies in big shells (oriental trading company, hobby lobby, etc.should have them), have hibiscus (real or fake) thrown around the table, make fruit kabobs stuck in a pineapple, fruity froo froo non-alcoholic drinks w/umbrellas, grass skirts, coconut shells, tiki torches, hula contest, limbo contest, make sure everyone gets a lei when they enter along with a grass mat to sit on, make surfboards out of a big roll of construction paper for decor, play surf music in the background. For a goody bag...Find inexpensive beach towels ($1 store?) and roll a bottle of sunscreen inside of it, tie it with raffia and pass them out when they leave!

If it is nice outside, you could do sac races, or eggs on a spoon race. You could have a water balloon toss or simply take all of them to a park. Get a few adults to help watch. The park will have open space for the boys, bring a soccer ball or something... and it will have swings etc. for the girls. ??
Then have a set time for cake and ice cream... presents and send them on their way.

GOOD LUCK!
