Ideas for a Shower for Moms Having Second Babies

I would also suggest decorating onesies or cloth diapers. You could also have them decorate baby blankets. These would be useful and also be nice keepsakes.

At my second shower, everyone was given a square of fabric to decorate or write messages. Then a friend sewed the squares together to make a special quilt for the baby. We framed it to hang on the wall of his bedroom. It is something he will have forever.

NOt sure if it's too late for this, but why not everyone bring the RECIPE for the meal that they made along with another 'easy for a new mom to make' recipe and make a book for her for when her little one arrives.

For my bridal shower, we painted clear glass paints. Not sure of they type of paint needed(my friend brought the supplies), but each guest made a plate and I still use them on occasion for desserts, etc. I think this would be really neat....maybe make one for each birthday and then it could be their special birthday plate. Or holidays....

I also really like the quilt idea. I did that for my wedding and I love my quilt!

You could make a tie quilt. Not sure if that is the name of it but you pretty much tie fleece material together to make a 2 sided blanket. I have 2 of them, one in my daughters "theme" and one from the ladies at church. You cut a 3 inch strip every inch or inch and a half of the edge and then tie the strips together. You can either choose the mom's colors for the baby room or specifically boy or girl objects. You can also make the blanket as large as you want so it will last thorugh the toddler years. The receiving blankets for infants only last so long with maybe one being special. I use my blankets to protect from the cold or wind in the stroller since it is large enough. No sewing and no special skills needed.

The idea of the tie-quilt is EXCELLENT! Those are the nicest blankets and she will love a soft, fleecey O. for the baby. You could have each table do O., even as you can never have too many blankets (I couldn't!).

Also, what about a small journal and it can circulate during the shower so people can write their thoughts, wishes, etc. for the family and baby?

Here is something we did at our wedding(advice/well wishes) and my bridal shower( everyone got an index card in the invite was was asked to bring their best recipe), then the baby shower too ( wishes or advice for the baby) - get a stack of index cards plain white, or maybe pastel colors would be nice. Buy each mom a nice photo album with the slide in pocket pages. Pass the cards around at the shower, and have everyone write down their best baby advice, a time-saving recipe, or wishes for the mom and baby's (family's) future. then you have them all sign it, and you put them all in the slide in pages of the album - it is a nice momento, you get some great and funny comments, and it is like a guest book, too, showing all who came.

At my baby shower the host bought plain white bibs and paint pens and had those who wanted decorate a bib. Not all of them turned out great, but i do use them!! the ones that are ugly are used at home and the ones that turned out cute get used out and about. Its as simple as putting the baby initals on the bib...or polka dots...

I also went to a shower where they had the wooden letters to spell the baby name, but they had like 3 or 4 of each letter, and we all got to paint a letter....same concept as the bibs. But, only the colors in the babys room were offered in paint... at the end of the shower the mom to be picked which design of each letter she liked best and that guest got a little gift for "winning" then, mom had the letters to take home for a wall hanging.

also...sorry this is so long....you could do a photo shoot.... have construction paper, markers, stickers on hand and allow the guest to creat a sign with advice, words of encouragement or so forth and take a picture of that guest with their sign and then as the host print the picures and put them into an album for the mom to be.

How about getting fabric paint pens (easier than the normal paints for the non crafty people) and decorating blank onsies or white cloth diapers to use as burp clothes. There is also a section in micheals for make your own bath and body products - you could make the mom relaxation things like cute soaps and bubble baths.

The host brings a piggy bank and has all the guests bring their age in change. Then as a game have guests guess how much is in the piggy bank. The gift is the bank and the money in it. So cute!

Could decorate onesies or T-shirts with puff paints. We did this at a baby shower and it was fiun to look at - some were very creative and others were simple (like a large star...)

I'm not very "crafty" but have one idea that could work. Have you considered making the tied fleece blankets. They can be done pretty quickly. We did that over lunch hour at my place of work a few years ago. If you have a place to lay out the fabric, some good scissors. Most anyone can at least participate in the tying. They can be shown how to tie a square knot. You could have the fleece ready to go. There are usually nice baby patterns at the fabric stores. There you have it - my one and only "crafty" idea that is easy to do!

At my shower we had white burp clothes (cloth diapers) and fabric pens and everyone got to decorate them. They turned out great and lasted through all the washings.

At my baby shower everyone made me a page for my scrapbook. It was really special. They bought the materials for cheap at a discount store and everyone decorated a page. They used ribbons, cut out cards, etc. Scrapbooking stuff can be found cheap these days. you can always ask your guests to bring some baby themed scrapbooking stuff. It is something I'll treasure forever.
