Ideas for a Wedding Location

My son just got engaged and we are looking for a location in the NE area for a wedding/reception. They do not want a traditional church wedding so we are looking for something that will accommodate both the ceremony and reception.
Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions. We are looking at May 09.
Not wanting $$$ either is the real catch!
Thanks!
C.

So What Happened?

Hi Moms!

Thank you for all of your suggestions for our son's wedding location.
His fiancee and he have planned a wedding at Clark Gardens in Weatherford.
It is a beautiful place and we are excited about the wedding.
Thanks again for the ideas. This is a great site for information, but also for encouragement as I read some responses that you all give to others.
God bless,
C. U

Hi C., We looked into the Corner Wedding Chapel and it is really a great deal (or was a couple of years ago). We got married at the Botanical Gardens in May and it was beautiful. The price for the garden/rooms is very reasonable. Best Wishes and Congratulations!

C.,
I don't know exactly where you are looking, but I got married in the Southlake Grapevine area almost 7 years ago. We used a place called "the Ranch of Lonesome Dove" The drive makes you feel like you are going out in the middle of nowhere, but once you get there you are overlooking the lake. They have a gazebo for an outdoor location, and a large hall for an indoor wedding space and reception, they also have a small chapel which we didn't use, but it is adorable if you are wanting a small indoor service. It is not a real formal feeling place, but can be beautiful. It was perfect for my family because we are not formal people, we are down to earth, family oriented, comfortable people. It is run by a family that started doing this after they planned their daughters wedding and realized how pricey things could be. They can do the catering, they can recommend photographers, and people for the wedding cake. You may even be able to do all of it through them now, when I got married all they had were business cards of other people, I had to find my own photographer and cake person. But they did my food, and decorations, they set up, and clean up, my parents did help with some of the clean up because the extra food they got to take home, which worked out well with all the company they had for the rest of the weekend. They are very nice people and a beautiful location. I know there prices have changed since I got married there, but when I was looking they were very reasonable. They had different packages to choose from depended on how long you wanted to be there, what type of decorations you wanted, did you want a horse and carriage or not, and many details that I hadn't even thought about. I am a bargain shopper and for that size of a space and that kind of location, I couldn't find any better. My husband and I paid for everything ourselves (except myfamily paid for my dress, accessories, and alterations.) So we were budget shopping. There # is ###-###-#### address is 2299 Lonesome Dove Rd Southlake Texas. They have a website now also www.theranchoflonesomedove.com
Some of those pictures are old, They have a concrete sidewalk leading up to the gazebo, which they didn't have when I got married there. And alot of their pictures look western, but you don't have to do western, our wedding was not western at all it was more like garden theme.
I hope this helps, don't wait to long to book though, we went to book ours just over a year in advance and we had to do a friday wedding instead of saturday because the saturday for the weekend we wanted was already taken.
Good Luck and have fun.
S.

I went to a reception at Maggiano's. The food was delicious. They have large private rooms. I don't know if you can do the service there.

1st off congratulations on your expanding family, that's very exciting.
My daughter just celebrated her 2 year anniversary this week. We had her wedding at "The Wedding Chapel" near northeast mall.....it is a very precious place, and not really expensive; considering the options out there. We chose to have the ceremony in the garden and they have ample room for reception right there, which was nice, easy and convenient. I had to pay for it on my own and I live on a VERY liimited income. Since you have a year to plan, which I did, we came up with what we wanted after speaking with them and the cost was based on what we chose to have included. They are quite nice people and very accomodating. We had them provide specific linens, food, some drinks. My children had their own pastor even (an old family friend) or you can have a non christian service. Anyway we all loved it (I would have preferred a church setting myself but...) my kids were very happy with their wedding and that's what counts and non of us went poor providing it. Best of Luck to you!

Here are a couple locations in the NE area:

Corner Wedding Chapel (Hurst)
Northeast Wedding Chapel (Hurst)
White Chapel Estates (North Richland Hills) We used this one. It was gorgeous. Includes decorations. They set up and clean up.

Also www.theknot.com is full of useful information. I used it to plan our wedding 3 years ago.

My daughter was married at the Northeast Wedding Chapel in Hurst. The reception was held there to. It was great all around.
i have also been to a wedding at the White Chapel on Davis Blvd and it was very nice. I believe it was more expensive though than NE Wedding Chapel.

I'll second what Judy said about Thistle Hill - it's on Pennsylvania in the hospital district. My parents had their remarriage there and we did our own food and brought in our own musicians - it was just the right price. Here's the website: http://www.historicfortworth.org/
On a historical note, it used to be called the Scott Mansion and my parents were on the restoration committee when I was a little girl. It is a lovely place and can accommodate about 100 people in the main foyer using the stairs as your focal point. It has side rooms that people can flow through and mingle for the reception.
Blessings, S.

I had my wedding in Las Colinas on the canal. The wedding and reception was held at the Venetian Terrace ( http://www.venetianterrace.com/ ) and then we left on a godola that took us to the Omni Mandalay hotel for the night. If you would like to see pictures, just give me a shout.

What about an outdoor wedding? You could contact your local parks & rec. department to see if there are any area parks with a pavilion that you could rent for the wedding. This cost is usually inexpensive.

I know Delaney winery in Grapevine does weddings. A client of mine was married out there a couple of years ago. The ceremony was outside (wedding party in a gazebo) and the reception was in a 'barn' for lack of a better word. The 'barn' building was very cool...it was decorated beautifully and there were 2 floors. They had the buffet upstairs and the cake and dancing downstairs. It was very quaint and I don't think horribly expensive.

PS...Let me know if the bride to be needs anyone to do her hair. I have been doing hair for weddings for about 16 years. Here is a link to my website if you want to see pictures.

Grand Traditions in Corinth does the package deal. It's a very nice place that has everything in one spot; wedding hall, reception area, photographer, and a lovely outside area for weddings in the gazebo. You can bring CDs to provide your own music or you can choose from their music collection. They offer all services, including the minister, and you leave after the ceremony with a video of the ceremony and a CD of all of the photos. Their rates are very reasonable, their staff are wonderful to work with and our wedding was both elegant and much lower priced than all of the other places I checked on, as well as taking the pressure off of me to locate and coordinate each of those services separately. It was a wonderful experience for us and I will forever be grateful to them for saving our wedding when the original plans we had made fell through 11 days before the wedding date, leaving me with nothing but a dress and 11 days to start completely over from scratch. I highly recommend their services. They have a website, www.grandtraditions.net and the phone is ###-###-#### or ###-###-####. Congratulations and Best Wishes! (^_~)

Downtown Fort Worth in the hospital district, is Thisle House on the corner of Pennsylvannia and maybe 8th Ave/Summit. It's an historical mansion that can be rented for weddings. They do daily tours and it really is something to see.

Northeast Wedding Chapel in Hurst is fantastic, I am in the wedding industry myself and work with so many brides who use them. Another one I hear highly of is White Chapel. It is in the same area. Whichever location you end up with, make sure to book soon, as May is one of the busiest wedding months, and dates go quickly!

We had our wedding at Cross TImbers Winery in Grapevine. It's a beautiful place in May! They have a gazebo for the ceremony and a "barn" for the reception or we just had them set up tables near the gazebo under a huge tree for the reception. The people there are very helpful and it was priced great! We had many compliments on the location!
