Does anyone know how to clean a microfiber couch? It's only 3 years old, but it looks 20 since the dog has made it his personal stomping ground. I vacuum it twice a week to get the dog hair, but I need to know how to really clean it. It's starting to smell...Do you dry clean it? Steam clean? Help!
I saw a product that was specifically a microfiber cleaner at Bo Concept. I also have a microfiber couch and the store I bought it from said to clean it with baby wipes. That does work, but depends on the severity of the stain/dirt. Sometimes it takes several tries.
I have micofiber couches and what I do is that I get a sponge wet it with hot water and a little bit of dish washing soap or laundry detergent and wipe them down. After that I spray them with febreze. If that doesn’t not work you can get them steam cleaned. Hope that help good luck!
steam clean with non toxic fluids, esp. because you have a pet and a small child and you're prognant.

You've received some great advice. From someone who's worked with fabrics for years, I also suggest being very careful about color-fastness. Some Microfibers don't hold color well (depending on the fiber content). So be sure to test your entire treatment in an inconspicuous spot and let it dry completely before doing your entre couch. DO NOT DRY IN THE SUNLIGHT, or it will discolor. A steamcleaner is best, but be sure to suck up all the water and soap residue before finishing (I always rinse with H2O using the steamer's final rinse setting). Then let it dry overnight away from the sunlight or dry blowing heat (like a heater). Both sources can degrade and/or discolor fibers quickly. Also, any soap or cleaner residue can degrade fibers and attract dirt quicker. As a final step, I use a spray scotch-guard after rinsing and let everything dry. Good luck!
I just used dish soap and water in a bowl on our chair and scrubbed it with a wet rag. It worked great.
I just did this for mine after the cats had peed on it numerous times and it just STUNK. I was considering getting a new couch.
However, I have a spot bot, and I used the oxy cleaner (specifically for the spot bot), some regular carpet cleaner, and some odoban (natural deodorizer for pets...enzymatic -- I picked it up at Sam's Club). I cleaned the cushions, and when it was still damp I put on a coating of baking soda to absorb anymore odors. When it was dry I vacuumed up the baking soda and washed the cushions again (they were a little white from the baking soda that got ground in). After that, I was amazed to not smell any bad odors (and I have a VERY sensitive nose). So, I'm not sure if it was all the products, or some of them, but you might want to start with some odoban (and soak the couch with it), and some baking soda (also odor absorber). I also should mention it didn't ruin the nap on the couch at all. It did take a vacuuming with the beater head to get the nap back up, but I'm so excited that it saved my couch (also 3 years old .... close to ending up in a garbage heap).

oxy clean oxy clean oxy clean. I scrubbed with oxy clean and then shampooed with rug shampooer and the results were amazing. The only thing is that the couch was red and the color faded a bit, so you have to be careful to wash away all of the residue. I would definitely spot check before trying it. I wish I had before and after pictures of the couches, though. Incredible.
it's called...kids-n-pets...no joke...you pour it on(kind of smells)rub it all over so you don't get those water marks and let it dry overnight...it'll look like you had it professionally cleaned for all about $4...it's at walmart/target etc...I usually vacuum mine afterwards too, but you don't have too and yes I am still wondering what possessed us to buy bone(another word for WHITE)furniture with 5 little boys running around :)
hi B., we have a golden who uses ours as her nesting spot, and have found the best clean we get the couch is with a carpet cleaner. rent the extra parts and spend an evening just going over it as many times as you can. it can take about 24 hours to completly dry but let me tell you this has become a bi monthly task in our home as it seems to make everything smell fresh when you are done. and the couches looklike new. you can add something called pet zyme to the soapy water in the machine wich will also help with puppy smells. that can be picked up at pet smart and probably any other pet store. good luck.
