I will be interested to see what responses you get, I would like to put my 4 year old in dance also!!!
I need to find a good dance program for my 4 yr old daughter. She has very good rythm, and is a great 'solo' dancer.
I tried the Crystal community ballet and tap dance, but she hated the class. I direct a folcklore dance for elementary school kids, and she responds very well to it when I bring her along, so I know she likes dancing. I think she needs something different but need ideas and places to check.

We were also in Crystal Dance. My son loved it, but I was a little bit disappointed in the performance quality when I see what is to come. (I have pretty much given myself away, haven't I?) We are currently in a sampler class with New Hope. There are only 2 weeks left, but I think there is another sampler in August. (I don't remember, but I know we are not doing it because of our schedule.) I have been impressed with Melissa, so far. She makes it fun. They have a proper dance floor, ballet bars and mirrors. And it's still through the community center, so the cost is still be pretty low. I would check out the sampler in August if there is one, or see if she can join the current class for the next two weeks.
Let me know if you have any other questions. I have had my kids in a lot of Community Ed classes around here. I also have heard recommendations for a dance studio in Robbinsdale, but I don't know the name of it.
My daughter & I go to http://www.danceendeavors.com/. They make the classes tons of fun. The studio is in Bloomington
SonDance Studio has a great program. It is a Christian Dance Studio and I know that they have summer classes. They have studios on the East Side of Maple Grove as well as Spring Lake Park. You can check them out on the Web.

My daughter is currently 4 1/2 and has done a dance/gymnastic combo at the Little Gym in St. Louis Park for about a year. She really enjoys it. I believe they may also have a dance only class. It is not as serious as a dance studio, but it is still quite good and really fun. You can do a sample class to try it out. It is listed as The Little Gym - Edina, but it is actually by Knollwood Mall.
I highly recommend the New Hope park and rec. dance program. It is a much different program than the crystal program and in my opinion is at a much better quality. I do know that the fall classes fill extremely fast so you're going to want to register ASAP if you want to be in the program. I believe registering for a summer class will give you priority over new students though.
