I'm at a Loss! What Could This Be!

I have been to the ER For severe pelvic pain twice this week. It doesn't get better, it get worse. It's been a month. I have flank pain, pain in my crotch, and hips. When they did a pelvic exam and used a speculum, I was screaming and crying. I was hysterical. I will not have sex foe a long time. I do have a history of ovarian cysts, but they were ruled out. And this pain is different. The other things that were ruled out are, bladder or kidney infection, STD,kidney stones. They did a cat scan as well as an ultrasound. It hurts more when I have any pee in my bladder. And I cramp after I pee as well. I'm hurting still, running out of pain pills, and don't see any reason to go back to the ER. I am going to find a doctor, but I would like to find some things to ask them to check for. Any ideas? Btw not asking for a diagnosis, just suggestions of things to look for.

What can I do next?

I am NOT giving you a diagnosis...however, I have Interstitial Cystitis (a bladder disease) that causes some of the same symptoms you are describing. Mine went undiagnosed for over 5 years...and my kidney disease (loin pain haematuria syndrome) went undiagnosed for 10 years. They honestly thought I was seeking pain meds. Far from the truth...I was REALLY miserable! After being diagnosed and knowing how to deal with it and what to eat/drink I am living almost pain-free.

I would recommend seeing a urologist and gynecologist. I spent a month straight in the hospital and had every test ran...got kicked out. Switched doctors...and all it took was a scope inserted like a catheter (not too painful actually) to see all the lesions in my bladder. The lesions (hunners ulcers) were causing bladder contrations and immense pain.

I wish you the best of luck!

I would agree witht he PET scan suggestion, just to make sure it's not a form of cancer. Otherwise there is a condition called interstitial cystitis that is an inflammation of the bladder without infection being present, but the symptoms are similar. Google the term, or look it up on WebMD and see if it makes sense (and apparently I was writing this at the same time as SunshineMommy!).

go to a urologist and have your bladder checked.

I'm sorry you are in pain...I would have your bladder checked to ensure there isn't a problem....if you are having a fever with this pain - i wouldn't stop until an answer was given....a fever usually means your body is fighting something...

they've checked your pancreas? your appendix? what did they say about your bladder when you told them what you told us?

sorry you're hurting so badly! I cant diagnose you but it does sound like you have some of the symptoms for interstitial cystitis with bladder spasms. I'd recommend an appt asap with a gyno-urologist.

I hope you find your answer!

SunshineMommy is right, sounds like you need to be evaluated by a Gyn and Urologist for Interstitial Cystitis. It's tough to treat (and diagnose), but not impossible. Best wishes. Midwife Mom

I am not a Doctor, but I had similar pain in past and I got severe infection treated with antibiotics for 2 weeks or it could be Fybromyalgia- not sure I spelled that right. They shoudl do blood and urine testing - Anyway - Good luck! I hope that will help

Maybe ask them to check for a genetically bad gallbladder. No gallstones. 10 years ago, I had an ovarian cyst burst - they couldn't find any proof that happened, other than a little free liquid in my abdomen on an ultrasound. So they were puzzled as to why I was so miserable. It took 8 doctors and 2 months to discover I also had a genetically bad gallbladder. Please also bring in a second opinion. As much as one doctor will desperately want to help you (and I have found the vast majority do), they just can't know everything. I kept pursuing the gynecological route and was shocked when it took a gastroenterologist. Good luck.

I'm sorry to hear you're going through this. I went through something very similar. It started with a very sharp pain that woke me from a deep sleep in the middle of the night. I have continued to have the pain on and off for 2 years, although it has lessened to a dull ache.

You did not say if you've ever had any abdominal surgeries, but if you have, this could be caused by adhesions. I went through all the tests mentioned below -- of course looking for the big C. I even had a colonoscopy. I had blood tests to check iron levels (which is a cancer indicator) and white blood cell count. My pain is worse if my bladder is full or if I get constipated. In the end they could find nothing, and they have attributed it to adhesions. I've had 2 c-sections, appendectomy plus emergency surgery for a ruptured aneurysm in the artery leading to my spleen. I know for sure I have adhesions because during the 2nd c-section my doctor said I had quite a lot from the first c-section.

I think everybody has given you some great answers, but just wanted to add adhesions to the list of possibilities. I hope you find the cause!

google Serrapeptase and see if that could help you..i had thickening of the uterus and a hard cyst on my ovary..was going to have to have surgery but i took Serrpeptase and after taking it for 3 weeks ..the doc couldn't find anything wrong..maybe taking it could help you..it gets rid of things like cysts and tumors..anything that is not supposed to be in the body..just had a big cyst on my arm..couldn't believe it..took the Serrapeptase and started to see it disappear and its now gone..it is a blood thinner though..so if you have any problems w/ bleeding do not take it or if you're going to have surgery..i use Dr.'s Best..and i think i got the last batch from vitacost.com for around $15
you may also want to take digestion pills..and cramp pills..go to Wholefoods and talk to a nutritionist..

good luck hope you find out what's wrong..

Sounds like there's a lot of good advice below from personal experience. Go with those first.

If those tests don't get you any information/relief, consider acupuncture. It might help.

Good luck.
