I'm Back 4 Months Later W/ Same Question!

Hello, Moms!! 4 months ago I asked for advice on what to put my baby in at night to sleep. I got several responses and took many into consideration. Now that summer is here, I'm wondering if I should change my daughter's sleeper. I have her in the Gerber sleepers (they come in a 2 pack in a clear bag and are very fleecy) and nothing else- no blanket or anything- and she sleeps in her crib. I keep the air on 75 and that's what she sleeps in. I have a fan going in her room as well. She sleeps through the night just fine, but I'm wondering if she's too hot. I know one mom whose baby sleeps in just a onesie and another who sleeps in a sleeper plus a zip up blanket- 2 extremes! I've bought several other types of sleepers- thinner ones- and I'm wondering if I'm dressing her too hot. Could some of you please tell me what you dress your babies in and what you keep the air on? I appreciate all of the advice!!

What can I do next?

She will be comfortable in the same temp that makes you comfy. My daughter is 16months and I keep the air at 75 and put her in a t shirt and shorts. I usually go in and put a light blanket over her legs, but that doesnt last long before its kicked off. She never wakes up so it seems to work.

Hi B., My name is K. S. I am a mom of 2 boys (13 and 9), both on the autism spectrum disorder umbrella. When they were babies, I never put them in sleepers. I felt it was too constricting for them. I put them in onesies and little footies. Never put them in nighties. I tried it, they kept waking up alot more than the usual feeding times, then I tried without and then they only woke up for their feedings. To this day, they don't like anything on there legs. Oh yeah, and when they were babies I had the air on 76, 77 during the summer and 72, 73 during the winter. If you leave your air on at 75, it will cause your electric bill to go up. Hope this helps.

I always say if you couldn't fall asleep in the situation your baby's in then make it comfy for you...it always works..

Hi-
My son is 1 year (today! :), he is the most amazing little man in the world!! I also work for the school system but I took off the 1st semester & job shared so I only worked 2 days a wk. the 2nd semester. It's awesome if you can work it out! Back to the question... :)

My son rarely used a blanket, only during a few nights this winter (but we live in FL). I switched to the cotton ones a few months ago because he sweats alot. We keep the house a/c 75-77. Lately I have even stopped the sleepers altogether & have let him sleep in a one piece shorts-set/jumper/romper. Partly because he was still hot (I nurse him) and partly because he's ready to run as soon as we get up & with tile floors I don't like the slip-factor! So far, seems to be the best fit! Good luck :)

Our babies are 2 days apart. Mine sleeps in very lightweight sleepers. I adore the ones that Disney makes, they are a very comfortable cotton, the have a flap of fabric behind the zipper to keep it from pinching her skin and they are so cute. If you get these, get them a size bigger than she wears because they shrink a little and run small. I also put her in the carter 2 piece pjs. These need to fit snugly. They don't have feet, but she is fine

Hey if the baby is sleeping thru the night I guess she's pretty comfy!! My daughter is 19 months old. I keep my air on anywhere from 75 to 77. Most of the time it's on 75 because that's what I love to sleep in. My daughter will not keep a blanket on and she sleeps with a fan on also. I always put her to bed in a short sleeve shirt and a pair of pajama pants.

We keep our home at about 72-73 degrees at night with a ceiling fan and tower fan blowing full speed. My 3 yr old sleeps in light jammies and my almost 4 month old sleeps in a thin onesie. He would be way too hot otherwise. I bought all these cute sleepers and sleep sacks and only used them a couple times till we realized he was sweating and too hot.

I think every kid is different....some have higher body temps than others, while some a cooler...Go on how she feels. Is she prespiring? Is her skin too cool to the touch? Does she seem more restless when in the fuzzy sleepers? My daughter wore those all the time....my new son would never sleep if I put him in one! Don't stress, just read her cues...they are the first of many!

My daughter is 3 mos younger than yours.
We have her in a Carter's sleeper and give her a waffled blanket (she doesn't stay covered with it so much but likes to grab it). We keep the air on 77 and don't turn her fan on and she seems fine. She has never woken up sweaty or anything.
I did buy a Carter's sleeper without feet and next morning her feet were cool. Probably won't use that to sleep anymore.

Hi B.,
I run a daycare with several infants in my care so I have over 10 years experience with babies. I would change to a cotton sleeper (lighter wieght) with long sleves during the summer. According to licensing babies who become overheated have a higher rate of SIDS deaths. If she starts waking up in the night then try the thicker type. I hope this helps.
