I'm Probably Not in Labor But...

So I'm SO ready to have my baby (please spare me the "it'll happen when it's time" BS, don't care) I got my cerclage removed and I got the all clear from my OB to go into labor at any time :) the baby is a good size, we did a steroid shot a couple of weeks ago because there was a little scare so his lungs are good as well, I lost my mucous plug either last night or this morning and I'm hoping my water will just break like it did with my first.. I've been having crazy low back pain and the baby isn't as active as he normally is this time of day.. I know the inactivity isn't from a complication or anything, we were just at the OB and everything is perfect so is this the early stages of labor? With my first my water broke then I had to be induced because I wasn't progressing so I didn't get to experience the contractions until the pitocin kicked in and then it was hell..

Also what are some things I can do to speed the process? I was dilated to 1cm then as soon as he took the cerclage out I dilated to 1 1/2 I've been walking around and using accupressure points but what else did you ladies do to speed things up? I'm going to try sex as soon as my hubby gets back from working out :) hopefully that'll do something. Any advice will be helpful!! TIA!

What can I do next?

I walked around the Mall Of America for an entire day, refusing to even sit down to eat! I had so much sex that I think even my boyfriend was sick of it. I still had to wait a week after that before my water broke at 5am while I was sleeping. Lol, but keep trying. If nothing else you'll get a killer work out :)

I was having extra braxton hicks contractions that didn't hurt but were stronger than normal for a couple days. I kept thinking it was labor but they kept sending me home calling it "false labor." I walked around an indoor track all day long. My braxon hicks were more consistent. The hospital told me to go get dinner and come back and if there was a spare bed, they'd admit me for the night for observations. It sounded like they were humoring me. I lived next door to the hospital and I was 22 years old and lived across the country from home...LOL so I kept showing up wondering if it was time yet. My husband took me to dinner and the contractions starting hurting... bad! They weren't hurting until this point. When I went back to the hospital after dinner, they happened to have a bed available. They admitted me for "observation" and I delivered two hours later. I think it was all the walking I did. They told me to walk around if I wanted to start my labor. I'm not sure if they meant all day but that's what I did. =) And it worked.

A nurse told me walking and going up and down stairs a lot might help.

The low back pain, if you haven't exerted yourself in any unusual way to account for it, is probably an early sign. With my firstborn, that was my ONLY first sign...until my water broke. It started early in the day and got progressively more ache-y. Eventually, by mid afternoon, even sitting on the sofa with a pillow behind my back did not ease the discomfort in the least. It wasn't pain at all, but just an awful ache that progressively got worse as the day went on. It did not wrap around to the front... all low and in the back.
My water broke around dinner time, and my son was born shortly after midnight.
With my daughter I never had low back ache before knowing I was in labor with contractions felt in the front. Totally different labors.
So, yeah... this could be the start.

I heard sex, nipple stimulation, walking, oregano.
So the weekend before I went into labor, I had hubby stimulate my nipples, had sex, ate spaghetti with extra oregano sprinkled in, walked a ton and I sat on my exercise ball ALL weekend. I did circles on it, bounced up and down on it. I was already at 4 cm dilated soooo it could all be coincidence, but can't hurt to try! Good luck getting that baby out and congrats!!!!

Probably old wives tales, but...
- Go for a walk
- Have sex
- Eat spicey food
- Castor Oil (my hair dresser swears by this one)

Walk, that worked with my first. Just don't get too far from home.

My second, the contractions just came on almost instantly. When they first started, I thought, OK, this will take awhile, but next thing you know we were in the car head to the hospital.

Squats, walking, rocking your hips back and worth while standing, nipple simulation, SEX, just make sure you drink a good amount of water today. Congrats on your progress.

Dito to Krista! BUT - be warned, if the oil doesn't work you'll be sick all night long. I tried it with kid #2 and it DID NOT WORK! So not only was it NASTY, it did nothing good for me.

Sex worked with kid one, and then the other two were induced and planned c-sections.
