Hi Everyone,

I just took my daughter to her pediatrician because she was sick. They have recently moved so while I was there I picked up a list of the immunitaztion schedule with the new address on it. I am expecting a baby in Oct so I looked over the list and compared it to the list I got two years ago when my daughter was born. I am shocked because there are even more immunitations on this list. For example: Heb B was only at birth, now they have it at birth, 2 months and 6 months. There are other additions as well. What happened in two years? Has anyone else's dr added shots? I am going to be checking into all of this and calling the Dr.'s office but I just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this.

Thank you all and have a blessed Easter.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks to everyone for their info about immunizations. I decided to get the book by Dr. Sears about immunizations. I am about half way through it. It is very informative and in some ways, may scare me more. He provides all the so I can make my own choice and at least it will be an informed choice, not one based on rummors or fears.

My daughters who are now 7 had the 3 heb b shots and pretty much all the same ones my son who is 14 months has gotten. The only new one that i can remember off the top of my had is the rotovirus one. As soon as I can find there shot records. I can tell you the difference , but with us there isn't very many. oh.. in TX they have to have the heb A shot series before they can go to school.

Nearly all 50 states (inlcuding AZ) have a right to waiver vaccines form/law due to medical , religious or philospohical (personal choice) reasons. So, your child (by law) is still entitled to attend public school regardless of whether your vaccinated them or not.

http://www.nvic.org/Vaccine-Laws/state-vaccine-requiremen...

http://www.arizonaautismsupport.org/vaccines.html

Knowing you don't have to vaccinate; some parents opt to delay vaccines until their kids are older, or space them out so that not so many are given at one time...or not do them at all. My oldest (stepson - 10) was vaccinated as a newborn/infant for the first year. He has autism. My three children who are 5, 6, and 10 have never been vaccinated and are extremely healthy. They all go to school and we just sign a waiver made available by the school - you just have to ask for it.

Don't be intimidated by the language your pedicatrician uses, or that the schools sometimes use. It's your right to have all the information and the waiver.

If you need more information, I have tons!

Best,
C.

my friend did a lot of research on this subject after having her 4th kid. Here is the book she liked to guide her to making good decisions. If you go by this, you may have to find a pedatrition that will support the theory.
It is not for everyone...

Hi. We noticed a difference in our 2 kids. One was born in 06 and the other 07. We are due any day with number 3. Number one kiddo had all her immunizations on schedule. But our second (and our third) is on a slower/modified schedule. We didn't give him ANY immunizations till he was 4 months old and from there, we only allowed up to 3 immunizations (not 3 shots, 3 separate "diseases").
Oddly, our first had a lot of colds and such as a baby. Our 22 month old son has a cold for only the second time in his life. So for some reason, he is on a slower scedule, but remains healthier. Weird.
Anyway, I suggest you read Jenny McCarthy's latest book. She is NOT anti-immunizations. But she is pro parents and is all for the parents decides which immunizations and when.
There is no reason a brand new born (especially one who is a product of a stay at home mom) needs a shot in the hospital. Or shots until he/she is out and about in the real world (closer to 4-6 months).
Read up on immunizations. Becoming educated for yourself is the best thing you can do for your family, no matter what you decide to do. So many parents just listen to the doc because they are in an authority position. But we as parents need to decide for ourselves (with education), what is best for our families.
Have a great Easter! Eat lots of ham and God bless.

Hi D.,
Yes! My daughter took her son in for immunizations around about the 6 month old age (I forget exactly) Afterwards, he became sick with recurring infections, not gaining weight, dark circles under his eyes. By the time he was a year they wanted to put tubes in his ears because of all the infections. We are in the health education business -- that's when my daughter go on the internet and began researching the symptoms. gluten intolerance had all the same symptons. So she decided to take him off gluten before an operation and all his symptoms cleared up! (She also has him on Juice Plus!)
Now why did he get gluten intolerant? She believes it is the immunizations! Some believe their children have autism because of all the immunizations! However, there is no research and no proof!
I would go to AskDrSears.com Dr. Sears is a wealth of information and I would go to WellnessForum.com and ask the question as well and begin this education. Both of these Dr.s recommend Juice Plus and you can visit my website for that!

good luck to you and begin this important research to make an informed choice for your family!
Ask me how to get Juice Plus FREE for your child!

The shots have not changed in the last three years, so you might want to check if your daughter received all that she needed. They may have given you an outdated chart to begin with. Yes, more immunizations are added as we are able to fight more diseases with them. I think it's a relief that my children will never have to suffer through polio, chicken pox, measles, or many others.

Hi have 4 kids (2002,2004,2006,2008 )and they all have had the same amount of vaccines except the last two have gotten the rotavirus vaccine. its always 3 to 4 of each vaccine. I would check you older child's records to make sure she is current on hers she may have missed some. its the parents choice to vaccinate but the reasons why we don't have out breaks of these diseases is due to the vaccinations and I think its unwise not to protect you child in every way you can.

Hi D.,

There is a lot of controversy over vaccinations. I have done a lot of research and have found that their risks far outweigh their benefits. Additionally, my youngest son actually contracted a rare disease from vaccinations. Luckily, it does not impair his ability to function normally.

Best thing to do is to ensure your baby has a healthy immune system. A truly healthy baby will not get sick or contract disease. You can maintain your child's immune system by doing the following:

1. Eating properly while breast feeding.
2. Hold off feeding your baby table food until age one.
3. Avoid dairy and processed foods once he/she begins eating table food.

Best wishes to you! :)

It's been 8 years for me since My son was born. My daughter has received so many shots and to me without looking at his records I see them giving more. Didn't ask why. I did finally look at his records and see she is getting more than he did.

The doctor's office is probably just following the CDC (Center for Disease Control) immunization guidelines. You can compare the schedule you picked up at their office with the one on their website at www.cdc.gov.

Hi D., Just my 2 cents. My 2 kids are 9 and 6 and have had all their shots as scheduled. However, my fiances daughter (now age 13) at age 18 months had a SEVERE reaction to her immunization shots within HOURS of getting them. She is now mildly retarded and autistic. Although they say there is no "proof" of this, you know of stories like this one all over. I have signed the waivers at my kids' school since they have gotten most of them and don't feel they need to get 4 shots of the same thing over and over. I feel that parents should wait until the kids are older and then spread the shots out so there are not so many at once. I see both sides of the immunization debate. I hope you get some good info that will help you out.

Hi D.! I vaccinated my first three children (all girls) exactly as the doctor suggested with no questions. Then I became pregnant with my son and all of a sudden I started questioning why so many vaccinations? I talked with my nurse practicioner at my pediatricians office and she suggested the Vaccination Book by Dr. Sears. I bought it on Amazon used for about $1. I highly recommend it. I ended up going with his "selective schedule". You will love the book, very easy to understand. Blessings!

I believe very strongly in immunizing on schedule. I'm not a doctor, and people far smarter than me make these recommendations. Do whatever research makes you comfortable, but be very, very, very skeptical of anything that's not actually backed up by scientific studies rather than pseudo-science explanations designed to appeal to "common sense." The autism nonsense, for example, was started by study that was completely invalid and has since been withdrawn, but it's still repeated because people latched onto the timing of the MMR vaccine and autism onset. There is a LOT of junk science online.
