I had my first naturally - my second child was way too big and I had an emergency c-section. Keep in mind you are recovering from abdominal surgery.

I did not feel 99% for many, many months. My son will be 15 this Summer and my scar still itches and there's a spot lower than my incision that still feels numb. But everything else is back to normal.

There are didfferent kinds of pain - and I'm not sure what you're in pain about - is it about the incision? Is it more internal - like your muscles and organs?

I think it's not uncommon to still feel some discomfort around the incision - nerves are cut and as they grow back and restore the "super highways" of your nervous system you may feel discomfort as they begin to "fire up". But if it's a deeper pain, uterine, muscular, abdominal - then talk to your doctor. You have a baby now and you have to stay healthy!

As for your period - I was 40 when my son was born. I nursed him as well and I didn't get my period for 2 years! The doctor thought I might be perimenopausal - but I wasn't and it came back for another 13+ years.

Our bodies are pretty complex - it's only been 6 months - give yourself from time. Things will become "normal" one day. the question is - What's normal?

I have had 1 c-section and 1 natural delivery, and with both it took well over a year for my periods to return to normal. Are you breastfeeding? If so, breastfeeding can cause uterine contractions, that may be some of the pain you are feeling. I am not sure what you define as "real bad," but if it concerns you, you should talk to your doctor.

I think you need to talk to your doctor. I had 2 C-sections, and while I did have pain for about 6 weeks after, I definitely did not have pain 5 months later. Please get this checked out.

It sounds like you have some scar tissue involvement. Please talk to your doctor and tell him or her that you need answers and help.
