Hi Mommies! I am looking for recommendations for a full or part time daycare in the Tempe or Chandler area, starting in November. I have a 5 mo old daughter that my parents are currently caring for while my husband and I are at work. The grandparents aren't sure they can give her up but would like some more free time so if you know of any good part time options please let me know. From what I have found so far it seems like part time is not much cheaper than full time. We're open to in-home and centers but are leaning towards in home so that she can build a relationship with her caretaker. All advice is appreciated, thanks in advance!!

Can you go into awatukee? Mine is 40th and Chandler and have been going to her since both my kids were infants part time. She charged me $25 per day (but that was 4 years ago) so maybe now she is more but not much I bet. She has taken care of my kids when we go on vacation, and I think she is great with infants. Let me know and I will send you her phone number. Home is good because they learn a lot of household rules (putting dishes in the sink, not touching the tv/cabinets etc) and a lot of responsibility.
My children go to Sunny Days Learning Center in Chandler (Chandler and Dobson). We've had kids enrolled there for 6 years. I love it! It's a family owned center. I liken it to having Grandma watching the kids. They truly are in the business because of the love they have for the kids. I live in Gilbert but make the drive there each day because I like the center so much. (I live 4 miles from work, but it takes me an hour to get there ;-) ) I was just talking with the owner the other day and she said she only have 1 infant spot left. The preschool program is great. My older son is in 1st grade and when he went to kindergarten he already know most of what they were teaching. I was very surprised they were teaching such remedial stuff, I figured all the kids would have gone into Kindergarten knowing all that my son did. I have an 18 month old at Sunny Days now. Their rates are very reasonable and a bit lower than other centers. If you do decide to check them out, would you mind giving them my name (Laurie Barnett)? If you end up enrolling your child, I'll get a free week. Please be assured that's not the reason I recommond them. I would recommend them regardless. Let me know if you'd like more info or have other specific questions.
Hi L.,
Try the East Valley Jewish Community Center in Chandler. They are great and offer full or part time and are very affordable. I was referred by a co-worker as I needed part-time child care and it worked out well. Good Luck!
Everyone has a different POV when it comes to daycare, so I'l just share my POV and what I did when trying to find daycare for my 18 month old son, 3 days a week, when he started daycare a year ago:
I live in Chandler and wanted a place close to my home so there would be convenience in dropping him off and picking him up. I also wanted a place that was NAEYC accredited (http://www.naeyc.org)and had a curricumlum that I felt would both interact my son and my husband and I; maybe had activities to bring home or told us the topics they would be doing during the day so my husband and I could incorporate them at home as well (like working on specific colors). They needed to allow my child at least 30 minutes playtime outside a day (some in home providers don't do this because they do not have a safe yard or play equiptment suitable for small children)& don't ask me why, but my son LOVES being outdoors so this was important for him. And lastly they had to have a partime option.
You are right part time isn't much cheaper than full time, but I guess in my eyes it was cheaper, if only a little bit.
So with all those things as priorities (and of course taking into account what childcares I had been told were good by friends or ones that I had personally seen children in & I was impressed with), I ended up enrolling him in the East Valley JCC (It's at the SW corner of Alma School & Ray Rd).
I hope that helps some :)
