Infant Formula WITHOUT Corn Syrup / Corn Syrup Solids

One of the reason's I used Good Start with my son was because the first ingredient was not "corn syrup solids" as it is with most of the others. He's been off it for a while so I'm not sure if it's in there at all or not...but I loved it - he didn't have any issues once we switched him to Good Start - the Similac caused all kinds of problems! I second Earth's Best. I breastfed but I gave him 3 bottles just to make sure he'd take it and he sucked it down no problem. I'm not 100% sure it doesn't have corn syrup but seems like I checked it and it didn't. That's what I would use. Plus, I'm a big fan of supporting organic companies. Good luck! Scary times, eh!

allumentum is great for that, but I also had a lot of luck with carnation goodstart gentlease... at half the price!

Corn maltodextrin is corn syrup. My daughter is 5 months and is finally on a formula that doesn't make her sick. First I used good start and at 9 days old I switched her straight to soy. Her stomach was making the most horrible loud noises! After a couple weeks on soy she started to scream when placed flat on her back. She would flail her arms open and look as though someone just dropped her. Then grab her own face and dig her nails in for something to hold on to. She would also throw up about 1-2 oz for every 3 oz she drank. That was severe GERD. So I had the dr switch her to Alimentum. She was a new baby and for the first week was fine! Then the throwing up started again. Went to the GI. They had me put rice cereal in every bottle. Huge difference! She kept most down of every bottle and seemed happier! A few weeks later she went back to the GI. Her gas would make her scream 2-3 times a day. I tried gas drops. Only worked for an hour. The GI suggested mylanta. Worked great for the gas. Made her throw up again. Went to the GI again, this time saw a different dr in the office. This dr looked at her extremely loose bowel movement and immediately knew she had an issue with corn! She switched her prescription to LIQUID ALIMENTUM. And gave me samples. After the first 3 days, NO GAS, NO SPITTING UP, NO PAIN, NO LIQUID POOP! It's been almost 4 weeks and she is doing SO WELL!! After my research I've discovered many things about infant formula that made me sick to my stomach! Corn syrup is just part if it! Nutrimigen has MSG!!!! As far as I know all powder, non-milk based formulas, have corn/corn syrup. Makes NO SENSE!! Why would a baby who can't handle milk, be able to handle the gassiness of a corn product?! I wish more than anything I had been able to nurse, I wanted to so badly! She has IUGR. Among other issues. Wasn't latching to anything properly and after a day finally latched to a bottle. I couldn't pump, nothing came out. :-( I hope from now on that she will be as healthy as possible, even with her issues. If you can't get their food right, nothing else goes right either! And thank god my insurance is covering the formula! The liquid is $10-13 a bottle which is 32oz. Over $350 a month!

I have breast/formula fed all 5 of mine and always go to Neslte Goodstart bc the protiens are broken down so its easier on the tummy. If you are very very concerned, there are some formulas you can make with goats milk but you will have to give me some time to find the resourse. I know a lactation conultant and homeopath that have a recipe. email me privatley if you would like it.

from what i have read the formula's that contain corn syrup are soy formula's if you are looking for a soy formula that is corn syrup free then i found this organic one it is the last link listed

My kids are now 7 and 4. With my oldest, I used plain Similac. They now have Similac Advanced, which they didn't have then, but I don't really know what the difference is between the two. With my younger one, I used Enfamil Lipil. I don't remember what the ingredients were on those, and honestly, I don't think I looked. They were just what the hospital gave us. I preferred Similac. They were cheaper and more fluent with their coupons than Enfamil was.

I've most of the answers and I see they have mention some formulas like alimentum and good start that don't have corn syrup; they do, i know it because I'm in the same situation, it says in the label "corn maltodextrin" which I think is kind of the same as corn syrup, the only one of those that doesn't have it is alimentum ready to feed. My son is on Neocate now and I just notice that the first ingredient is corn syrup :(

I am having the same problem. I am completely frustrated that even the high dollar "organic" soy formulas have corn syrup/corn syrup solids in it. How can that be? My son can't have milk, lactose formulas.

I know this is an old question but I wondered the same thing. Particularly because my son has fructose malabsorption & cannot have sugar/sugar alcohols, fruit, most veggies, wheat, and certainly not corn syrup. He is actually too old for formula but I found that Gerber Good Start Gentle appears not to contain corn syrup solids. Funny to me that so many people assume a lactose intolerance from formulas when the first ingredient in corn syrup solids, not milk. You CAN make your own home made formula. I just learned this as well... things I wish I knew when my babies were babies ;) It sounds gross but considering the alternative, it's probably a lot better.

Yes on Earth's Best - I'm using it now to supplement breast feeding. NO, it's not "sensitive," but you're so wise to avoid corn products (and soy) of any kind not specified as "non GMO." I get it at Amazon - sign up for Amazon Mom, set up auto delivery, and it costs about $23 including shipping (free w/Amazon Prime for Mom). I usually get mine the next day.
