My 11 wk old son has x link ichthyosis that requires him to be lotioned from head to toe numerous times a day. Does anyone know of any all natural fragrance free lotions or creams? We've been using cetaphil and it seems to be working...i'm just worried about the long term effects of using a product that has words i can't even pronounce.

What can I do next?

Eucerine is a very good thick lotion that works very well for eczema so this may be helpful as well for you.

J., yes I do know of natural baby products with no chemicals dyes or fragrances. The company that I am affiliated with called Arbonne has a natural baby line that has a wash, lotion and baby oil. If interested you can give me a call at ###-###-#### or ck out my web www.successfromtheheart.myarbonne.com. Thanks, K.

My oldest daugther has a pretty bad case of eczema (her skin will crack if we don't put lotion on her everyday) and one dermatologist told us to use CeraVe. You can get it at a pharmacy behind the counter (Target is where we go), but it's pretty expensive. We just started using it, so I can't give it a review just yet. The cream is $17.99 and the lotion and soap are $12.99 each. We have also used Mustela products: (1) Stelatopia Moisturizing Cream, (2) Stelatopia Milky Bath Oil, and (3) Stelatopia Cream Cleanser. We got these at Babies-R-Us and are gentle for babies. They are all great (and cheaper than Mustela products), but I just need to say that it is extremely important to be very careful with the baby oil because if the baby swallows the oil, it can be lethal. When my daughter was younger, we put the oil on her very lightly with a wash cloth and rinsed her off in the shower (with us of course). The oil helped her tremendously. It's hard to find the right lotion/cream that will work for your child. We have used TONS of different kinds. Although I am a HUGE fan of Aveeno products, they just didn't work for my daughter. Good luck and I hope this helps!

Our dermatologist (dd and i have keratosis pilaris) said to use cetaphil, phisoderm or cerave (at walgreens here) for our skin...I bathe her and I in the cerave skin cleanser and I use the cerave lotion once a day adn the cerave lotion mixed 50/50 with hydrocortizone a second time later in the day.

Hi J.
I am not familiar with the type of condition your son has, but my youngest has severe eczema and once used the Cetaphil several times a day until I came across a lotion made by a company that does not use any harmful ingredients in any of their products! To this day she has not had to use any other lotion and this actually keeps her skin so moisturized that she does not have to use it alot during the day! Please let me know if you would like more information about the company! Good Luck!

Hi,
Mannatech has two great topical products that might just be what you are looking for. In fact, they could possibly help with the condition, not just the symptoms. Emprizone and Firm both would work, but I would recommend the Emprizone first. You can check it out by going to my Web site, susanjordanbrown.com and clicking on the store link. You'll find info there and can order it if you want it. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I'll be glad to help.

Hey J.,
I feel your pain, our daughter has had excema since birth!
We have prescription meds for her, and I would be alot more worried about using those than the cetaphil, which is harmless. We have also used Aquaphor, but it is so heavy. It really does the trick. There are also anti-itch natural lotions you can purchase at health stores. We have used them all, and our dermatologist isn't worried about any of them.
The Cetaphil lotion is nice because it doesn't irritate the skin and you can use it alot.
Hope that helps you somewhat!!
Blessings,
L.

100% almond oil, olive oil, grapeseed oil, avocado oil...any of those can be bought at herbalremedies.com, and they are 100% natural. You can even eat them, and put them on your salads if you choose. I use them everyday, in the shower, on my face, on my dry hands...they are wonderful.
No worries about anything chemical soaking into your blood from the harsh chemicals in that pharmaceutical stuff, or the over the counter stuff.
Mother Nature is always the best way to go.

I see that you have gotten several responses, but I didn't see anyone that guided you to a place where you can investigate product options for yourself (because moms have so much free time--right?!?). Seriously, the link below is a great resource. It is easy to navigate, they are not trying to sell you a certain line of products, you can enter a product name and they will tell you more about it, and the site has info about all sorts of products with rankings from least harmful to more harmful. Go to:
http://www.cosmeticdatabase.com/browse.php?category=babyl...

At our house we use the California Baby lotion that can be purchased at Whole Foods or Target.

I don't know anything about your little one's skin condition but I know that grapeseed oil (we also buy this at Whole Foods) works well as an all natural option b/c I use it for baby massages.

My kids had eczema really bad when they were little. My 6 yo has almost grown out of it but my 2 & 4 yos still have flare ups. We liked the Vanicream products. You can find them at some drug stores but we always ordered online. You can google the website - Pharmaceutical Specialty Products. They have lotions, creams, shampoos, sunscreen, etc. We had good luck with the products!

I am glad to see someone already suggested it, but I second the suggestion to visit cosmeticdatabase.com You can run all kinds of personal care products through there to determine their safety. Its not the safest on the market (though there are certainly much worse ones out there) but a lotion that our family finds VERY effective for skin irritation is Aquaphor.. though I am not sure in regards to the condition you mentioned. Good luck!!

Arbonne has a fantastic baby care line that I use for all of my kids. It is all natural and organic. Their diaper rash cream is especially good. The products even help me when my hands have an eczema break out. You could either go to arbonne.com to find someone or write me back and I'll get you in contact with the girl that sells me my products. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Arbonne's baby line has worked wonders for the children in my family.

My family Dr. introduced it to me. Her children had severe eczema and Arbonne was the only product line that worked for them.

Feel free to contact me and I can help you purchase whatever you'd like wholesale.
