Well all I know is.... we are Netflix members, which we order online and get it in the mail.
Then we also have a Xbox... and there is the Netflix thing on it, that you can choose to view movies.
The movies, that we watch on the Xbox... is "streaming"... and is free.... because we pay monthly, via online membership. So per my Husband, the 'streaming' movies that we view on Xbox, are free.
Or course, there is some kind of pay thing, which I have no idea about.
But we watch Netflix on the Xbox, free, because it is "streaming' video.
This is per my Husband.
all the best,
Susan
We watch it through our Wii system and Netflix sent us a disc (like the discs you get when you buy a game) to use. I'm not sure how it works with XBOX, but I would imagine it's similar. The selection for kids is great with the instant queue, but haven't been that impressed with the grown up selection. Most of the good movies you still have to get through the mail. Great for past seasons of TV shows though if you wanted to catch up on one that you never watched before! I didn't set it all up, so I don't know exactly how it worked, but I really think it was just a matter of getting the Netflix account and then putting the CD in the game unit.
Hope this helps!
We have this. Just go to the Netflix website and it gives specific instructions on how to make it work.
Call Netflix customer service1-866-716-0414.
My initial set up really didn't have much to do with netflix and I never called them, although I'm sure they can help. 1st, you'll have to figure out how to connect your Xbox up to the internet. You should find these instructions in the Xbox manual. I have wireless, so had to buy a special wireless adaptor that was around $69.00. All this was in my DVD manual.
Don't let the manual scare you. There is a lot of computer jargon that was foreign to me (looked like utter jibberish), but I stuck to the basics and ignored all that. Sometimes the instructions missed a step and I'd just start pressing buttons til I found something that made sense. If you have trouble figuring this part out, I'd call netflix like others suggested.
Once you are connected to the internet, just select netflix when the Xbox is turned on. As soon as I turn on my DVD player, I have several choices to choose from; Netflix being one of them.
I'm having a hard time remembering the events as they occurred. The first time Netflix is selected (after an internet connection is established), it gives you a code. I had to go into my on-line Netflix account and enter that code in the "Instantly to your TV" drop down menu under the "Watch Instant" tab. Somehow, the two connected and my "instant queue" movies showed up on the TV screen to start playing.
Movies cannot be added via the remote control, you have to login to netflix, to the "Watch Instantly" tab and select "Home", "Genres", or "Starz Play" for a selection of movies. There are a lot of movies you cannot view instantly and if the movie does not have a blue "play" button, then it's not available for instant queue. When you go down to "play", DON'T click it, wait until the "Add to Instant Queue" pops up, then select that, otherwise, it will start to play on your computer.
As far as the Netflix fees, you shouldn't have to up your plan, at least I didn't. You might even be able to downgrade to the lowest price available, but I'm not sure about this. I kept my plan the same because most of the movies I'm interested in are not available "instantly". Visit this link: http://www.netflix.com/NetflixReadyDevicesDetails?trkid=1.... It says There's no additional fee for netflix members.
Hopefully, I did not write this badly enough to confuse you. Also, your device may work a little differently. I figure we best enjoy our free instant movies while we can; I'm sure it's only a matter of time B4 they start charging something.
Yup... You just set it up through your xBox dashboard. See the directions below.
As far as I know once you"ve upgraded to an unlimited plan you can access Netflix through your xbox. I haven't done it yet as I use the PS3 to watch my movies.
Netflix has a contact # too if you'd rather deal with a human being for customer service :) 1-866-716-0414
I am not sure about the Xbox, but we have instant access through our wii, and it is probably the same. We needed a disc from netflicks. As soon as we said we had a wii they sent it, and than you keep it for as long as you have netflicks.
To add to SH, I sometimes see additional charges on the account for $3 or so where he has ordered a movie. Most often he watches the free stuff, but every once in a while he thinks he is a big spender. We have had a NF account for about 3 years now and we discontinued our movie channels. The only problem is we can only watch movies downstairs, but we can select the movies. Also, my daughter watches her movies on her computer through NF and she says there is an iphone app.
Here's the instructions from Netflix's site

I love it!!!! Netflix will tell you how to do it. I kept telling my husband we don't need that, but I love it when my son wants something different I just browse and find something. Saturday night and we want something to watch, I can always find a good movie.
