I suggest finding out the school districts policy on how to ask for one. Then make sure you follow it. If you have to turn something in - get there an hour or two before the time. In my school district, we have a highly sought after school and there were about 10 people in line before my husband got there 30 mins before the time to turn the paperwork in. Also keep copies of everything. We did not get our school choice but try again the following year if you dont get it Another mom would also wanted the school I wanted didn't make it in for kinder but she tried again before 1st grade and her daughter in the school. Hope that helps!!

I know nothing about your specific area. Around here getting in is not an issue, but people have some mean sticker shock. Some of the districts charge 20 to 30 thousand for out of district students.

Will it be and inter-district transfer or an INTRA-discrict transfer? You said inter, but it sounds like you actually live in the district, just zoned for another school. If that's the case, it's probably less difficult than getting into a school outside your district (inter), but will depend on the school having enough space.

I'd apply for the transfer now, so you'll be higher on the list if space comes available.

Good luck.

Hello, It has been many years, but we did an inter-district transfer for one of our kids. He was our youngest and had lived in the same home for 16 years. We moved to the country area and he became so depressed. I happened to work in the school district he had been in his whole life. I was able to have him transferred back into it with the help of a counselor and the fact that I worked near where he would be attending. It took some footwork and paperwork, but it was very worth it.
Good luck.

I live in the district, You can easily get into Golden if your child is GATE-and you live in that section of the district. What is your home school? Are you aware of how big Golden is? it is double the size of the other K-6 schools in the area. I know it is becoming more difficult to do inner-district transfers. Just depends on the school.

I would stop listening to rumors and call the school office and ask what you need to do. Usually there is a deadline-and it could be as early as Feb. It is never going to hurt to ask.
