Interested in Forming a Group to Exchange Babysitting

We don't have family in this area and none of our friends have children that live close by so I'm always hesitant to bother friends without children to babysit mine. I thought it would be great to start a moms group to get to know each other with the hopes of forming some friendships and trusting relationships in which we could exchange babysitting.

Has anyone tried this before? If so, please send me feedback.
Anyone interested?

We live in Corinth, so no way we could do this with you guys.....But I did this in Houston before moving here and it worked great! I would love to explain how I ran mine, and what I learned ect.... We used a currancy I named "Baby Bucks" and had a once a month get together for breakfast and play.It really worked perfectly. It prevent anyone from being taken advantage of, and allowed the fairness of when you help out another mom you get more bucks to get that same help. I astablished certain amounts per hour, per child. Mom's with less children paid less than mom's with say 4. If you want to here all the end and outs of how it worked feel free to contact me and we can exchange phone numbers. Would love to share my system with you. I am sure it would help you decide how you want to do yours. Even if it is just for ideas.

I am interested, but I live in Flower Mound. I might still be able to participate because I work near Frisco so we could go out in that area, then go home. Let me know if you get a group started.

R.,
I am about to give birth at any moment to my second child, but I would be interested in hearing what kind of response/ interest you get on this topic. I also live in West Frisco- Lone Star Ranch. This type of arrangement is usually called a babysitting co-op and it works on the point system. When you watch someone elses child you get 1 point for each hour. When your child is watched by someone else, you give a point. If there are 2 children from one house, it can either be 1.5 or 2 points for each hour...depends what the group decides. Someone serves as the "point keeper" so to speak, keeping track of who has points to give and who has points to cash in. Members simply email this person when they utilize the co-op. This keeps people from overusing the system. Not sure if this makes sense or not...
Keep me posted on what you come up with. With a newborn, I may be out of service for a while, but I would definately be interested eventually. my email address is ____@____.com

Hi R.,
Sorry I am just responding to your request I have been out of town. This sounds like a fabulous idea. I have 3 girls(7,5,& 20 mos.) We relocated here after Katrina and I have no family here. My husband and I never have any time together and like you have a hard time trusting someone I do not know. This would be a great way to meet other moms and trade babysitting. Count me in.

Thanks
S.
