Invite to Model Clothes--would You Accept on Behalf of Your Child?

My daughter and I were in Old Navy today. She started dancing in front of a full length mirror to the music playing over the speakers.

After about ten minutes of dancing, and employee stopped and invited her to model clothes on a runway in the store next week.

Would you have your child participate?

What can I do next?

IF she wants to and understands what she will be doing (the people and attention on her.) How fun for her if she chooses to do it!

if SHE wants to do it then go for it :) if at anytime she doesn't then I'd say don't (and that includes 2 seconds before she's supposed to walk down the catwalk) :) but it sounds like she's a pretty outgoing girl so she'll probably have a blast.

Does she want to?
Will she be compensated?

Remember to NEVER EVER pay and MONEY$$

I have modeled most of my life and my daughter models occasionally.

It can be a lot of fun, it can be stressful and rewarding.

I've been compensated by being able to keep clothes, which I love, as well as make about $200 or more an hour!

If she has a good attitude and there is no pressure, go fot it.. SHe might end up with a little extra money gig for herself.

Yes. 2 of my kids have done something like that. My daughter got to keep her outfit which later went into her memory box. Both times we ended up with professional photos which were special and different from our usual portraits and snapshots.

Sure, why not? If she wants to do it, of course. Sounds like fun.

Yeah why not. The only thing you need to be prepared for is the chance she won't want to do it when the time comes. I think nothing is more awful than when parents force kids to do things like that.

Why not? If no one has other plans, why not? It could lead to more modelling opportunities and the economy as it is, saving for a college or higher education does n't come easy. I wouldn't do it necessarily for free, although even that could lead to future chances.
When my youngest was in grade school, somehow John Robert Powers agency saw his school picture and requested he come in. And he went through the course. You never know where an agent might be. When we were at a national taekwondo competition, an acquaintance was picked out just from her action photos that had been taken, and she did scads of modelling, was part of the auto displays at the International Auto Show in Detroit, etc, went on to college, is now working at a tv station in the Virgin Islands.

Yes as long as she said she wanted to. It's in the store (not some unknown location) that you already frequent and the employee (not a random stranger) approached you.

Absolutely. What fun. Something she will always remember. As long as
you are there, I do not see a problem with it. She must be very excited.
Have fun.

Why wouldn't you let her, if she is dancing with people watching her then she is obviously comfortable being the center of attention. I think if she likes the idea then do it.

Mine would never do it in front of a crowd, but you still get to keep the clothes usually.
