Can you speak with someone in customer support at Apple? I would think they might be able to help you out and talk you through it.
I downloaded a rented movie off itunes and it lasted like two days on my ipod and then vanished. I thought I got it for 14 days.
Do you guys do this a lot ??? Do I need to actually buy this movie through itunes for it to stay a long time ?
Also is it normal that the itunes takes up to 3 hours to download a movie ? I am new at this whole thing...

We are new at it too but it took hours for my sons phone to download a 30 minute episode of a show he likes. I think we must be doing something wrong because my daughter does it on hers and it seems much faster!
Good luck!
Do you still have the movie available through your iTunes account? Maybe you can get it back that way. I don't do many rentals, so I'm not sure. As far as the downloading, it shouldn't be taking that long if you have a high speed connection. I have downloaded hour long TV episodes and they only take about 10-15 minutes to download. Does the internet through your browser load fast or is it slow? Try going to a speed test website online and testing your Internet speed. If your Internet speed is fast and iTunes is slow, you may need to call Apple and see if there is some setting that is off.
Rented movies from iTunes are supposed to stay on for 30 days from the time you rent it, but once you start watching it, it is only good for 24 hours. You can watch it as many times as you wish in that 24 hour period. It does take a while to download movies depending on the speed of your internet.
