I am looking for a compact ipod or music player to use while I run/work out. Suggestions?

I want to spend no more than $50 or so.

The Sansa clip is in that price range and should meet your needs.

I have a Sansa and I use it to jog/workout all the time. I was not about to spend the money for an Ipod.

I think you could get a regular MP3 player for that amount. The cheapest ipod is an ipod shuffle and they are $59 or $79. You have no control over the order in which the songs play. You can skip over songs, but you can't set up playlist like you can on the ipod nano.

Everyone in my house has ipods - shuffle, nano, classic and the itouch, so I don't know about the other types of mp3 players. We've been very happy with our ipods.

I would suggest getting an ipod shuffle! they fit 250 songs and it's perfect for a workout! I have my ipod touch and honestly i have like not even 200 songs because i havent updated my music but it lasts me for a while at the gym!

I didn't want to be roped into the Apple cult : ) (Mainly due to price) so I went with a Sony Walkman, MP3. The outlets have the non-video kind. It's about 2 inches long, half an inch wide, half an inch thick and I love it.

It's basically an external drive that has a little cap you remove and it plugs directly into your computer like any external drive (forgot the technical name for it...(something port?) and you transfer your songs over as you would a regular computer file.

It doesn't have a battery - it charges off your computer. They had a deal a while back, order the player, get a free arm band. I can't say enough good things about it. (Then again, my old player only held 35 songs and with this one holding well over 400, it's a huge improvement.)

For running it off speakers, I plug it into the computer and plug speakers into the computer to run it. In the car, we bought a cord that plugs into where the headphones go and the other into a jack into the radio and it plays throught the car speakers.
