My daughter will be eleven this year. She wants to have a birthday party. That is fine, but her birthday is in July. Any time we have had it then, hardly anyone from school comes. I can't have her dissappointed again. So, my question is...Is it okay to have to have an early birthday party? I plan on disclosing why. Would you let your child go?

I think its a great idea! We had a child in my 9 year old son's school have a "Un-Birthday" since he was a June birthday boy. Many people are on vacation in the summer or they have their kids registered at camps so are unable to make the party, so having a "un-birthday" was a great way to have everyone from class there. Almost every child in the class attened this child's "un-birthday" including my own. Have a great party!

Go for it! Lots of people have early or half-year birthdays. A few years ago my daughter wanted to have a swimming party at a local pool so we moved it to May (her birthday is in January)! On her real birthday - we had a small celebration (we took my daughter and one friend to a fun restaurant, and then came home to open presents, etc.).

I remember a few parties of kids in her class that were held during the school year instead of summer. Kids (and parents) don't care -- everyone loves a party!
I wouldn't make a big deal of it. I would recommend giving your phone # for RSVP, though. It seems as if these days, some folks don't respond too readily (people get busy and forget). I just call the day before if i have not heard from some. I've also found that as my daughter gets older, she just wants to invite a few girlfriends over for a sleep-over birthday party. In that case -- I've called to see what date works out for everybody.

i would let my daughter go. hopefully the parents of her friends will understand the situation and be able to sympathize with both you and you daughter. and if anyone does think it wierd, they're not really parents like us. we know their smiles make everything worth it!! good luck.

Definately let her have an early birthday party. I was a July baby myself. I wish my mom would have thrown me one before or even after summer break. Im 41, and still disappointed. :( My son was born on Christmas, so when he starts school, we plan on doing birthday parties in January.
Oh and wish her an early HAPPY BIRTHDAY from me!!

Go for it. My son has b-day in August and we have thought about doing a party at the end of school and even just calling it an end of school or summer kick-off party. My b-day is in August too and I always hated not being able to have everyone from school there, you just can't stay in touch with everyone over the summer and people are on vacation etc. Have fun!

Sure why not...I would suggest the weekend before school let out. Who would know when her actually b-day is anyways. If anyone ask tell them you really wanted to give her a great b-day party and during the summer most people forget or are away on vacation. Hope this helps...
