I am confused?? Our insurance BCBS Anthem says it covers us at Boulder Community Hospital. I went to the hospitals website and if you click under medical services, under Maternity Care and then you click on Family Birth Center, it tells you that their birth center is At Boulder Foothills Community Hospital. Does Boulder Community not deliver babies so they are affiliated with the Foothills one for birthing? Is Boulder Foothills and Boulder Community one in the same even though they are separate buildings? I am new to the area and I am trying to find a doctor that will do a VBAC? I was given some referrals and I would love to deliver at Boulder Foothills as I heard their intervention rate is very low compared to the surrounding area. If some one could help me understand it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

As far as I know they are the same - Foothills is just a newer facility and a really good one too. I think the Boulder Community Hospital - Avista Campus might be closer to you though, it's on 287 more towards Louisville / Superior.

Good luck with baby #2!

yes, they are the same. One is the foothils campus (where all the maternity doc's are (and great pediatrician options too) and where you would deliver.

The mapleton campus is the original one and Foothills campus is the newer hospital a little over 4 years old (I delivered there). Definitely all the same.

I am not sure but you might check with Boulder Women's care. I don't know what their policy is on VBacs.. depends on if you are a good candidate or not. I love that office; they delivered my first. I am now seeing a doc at Boulder Medical Center on teh 2nd floor (insurance changed) but if you can I'd recommend BWC.

Yup, they're the same. Also, Boulder Women's Care is fantastic, and this fall they added a Midwife option to their practice. I delivered my first baby with BWC, and next month I'll be delivering my second with BWC/Midwife.

Also, I have a friend who is using the BWC/Midwife option for a VBAC this summer.

Congratulations!

Both hospitals are Boulder Community. There are just 2 separate locations. The Foothills campus is beautiful and a great place to have a baby. Congratulations!

T....me again. They are the same. The Boulder Foothills campus is an extension of Boulder Community Hospital. I actually worked for them in their HR department when the Foothills campus opened. The Labor/Delivery & Mom/Baby departments moved to the Foothills campus, freeing up space in the campus on Broadway for expansion of other units there. They also have a surgery center, inpatient care units, imaging and other misc depts/medical practices on the Foothills campus. The big one there is the Maternity center. It is great - have had friends deliver there and they had great things to say. They also have queen size beds in the mom/baby area so you and your hubby can sleep next to one another. It is a nice perk. Anyway, hope this helps.

They are the same, although I think only the Foothills campus has maternity/delivery. I saw docs at Boulder Medical Center on the 2nd floor - particularly like Dr. Plotnick and Dr. Jones. It is a great facility.

You may already have lots of responses but heres more:
Foothills is where they now do deliveries. Their pediatrics center is there too. They moved it from the old hospital a few years back. It was a great experience at Foothills for me and I used both the birthing center and the pediatrics.
They have tours there to check out the facilities. Just give them a call and find a time.
As for the insurance I believe the both hospitals are under the same 'umbrell'
I'd call to make sure...
Happing birthing and many blessings

Hi T.,

I too, moved from California and my insurance said it covered Boulder Community Hospital, but Boulder Foothills did not show up in their system. After a lot of confusion and talking to a lot of folks, the insurance DID cover it, since it is the "same" hospital.

I also really recommend Boulder Women's Care (BCW), which is conveniently located on the 3rd floor of the Foothills hospital. It is an all women practice, they have a very welcoming waiting room and ALL the OBGYN's are great! I would particularly recommend Dr. Jennifer Leavitt or Dr. Mako Shimoda. I had prenatal care for both my babies there and had an awesome experience.

Also the hospital staff at foothills was very on the ball and attentive (I had a complicated delivery with my 1st and Dr. Leavitt really worked with me so I didn't have to have a c-section, and my second child ended up in the NICU), and the hospital staff were great and really supportive--very woman/mommy/baby friendly and focused.

Hope this is helpful and good luck with the VBAC!

Hi, T.! I don't know for sure about your hospital question, but I did want to encourage you with your VBAC. I successfully VBAC'd with my son last March (1 year ago). I started out with an OB during that pregnancy, and it became clear that if I continued on that path, I'd end up with another c-section. I chose a mid-wife practice instead of an OB. I also hired a doula to attend the birth and provide support. It was an amazing, beautiful experience, and I wish it for you! If you want referals to a doula or midwife, contact me off list at ____@____.com look!
