Hi to all of you out there in the Mama Source world. Well its that time of year again. Christmas is just around the corner. Every year, my son and I make some kind of Christmas craft to give to family members. This year I'm stumped! We did Hand print spiders and foot print ghosts for halloween, Hand print turkeys for Thanksgiving, Two years in a row now. This year I want it to be something different and as low cost as possible! If any of you have any good ideas or websites y'all can share I'd greatly appreciate it!! Thanks soooo much in advance!!
I just want to say thank you to everyone who responded! I've decided to try everyone's suggestion! :) LOL We are going to do one project a day! I ended up doing the Santa handprints and those came out really nice! Now we are getting ready to do the clear ornaments with something inside. My son LOVES doing crafts. Thank you MamaSource!! :)

This would be my first year of doing this craft myself, so we can try together.(so to speak) My children 4&5 love to help in the kitchen so we are going to try to make Salt Cookie Ornaments for our tree and as gifts.
What You Need
4 Cups of Flour
1 Cup of Salt
1 1/2 Cups of Hot Water
Holiday Cookie Cutters
Decorations, Glitter, Paint, Beads, Etc.
Knead the dough and roll it out to cut out shapes with cookie cutters (just like if you were making sugar cookies). Place them on a microwave safe plate and microwave on high for about 2 minutes. Paint and decorate as desired. Most of all, be creative and have a lot of fun!
Let me know how they turn out!!!
I got the recipe from: http://rubyglen.com/articles/craftsaltdough.htm
