he could just be seeing the attention the other kids at the daycare are getting when they get their diapers changed and so when he has an accident he is getting one on one attention from the provider
My son just turned 4 a few weeks ago and has been potty trained since Sept 07. He's been going to the same daycare for over 2 years now and all of a sudden he is having accidents at nap time. The accidents are only at daycare and only at nap time there. He has no problem at night or on the weekends here with us. There is only one other girl there older than him otherwise it is all younger kids that are not fully potty trained. I feel I have tried everything however there has to be some good explination for this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Only thing I can think of is that they are not having him go to the bathroom before taking a nap. Also, he could be getting to much to drink before nap time as well.
If there has been no other changes, than I do not know what else it could be.
Maybe your son is afraid to get up during naptime at daycare. My son son has been potty trained for about 7 months and the only time he has had an accident was at daycare during naptime. He didn't know that it was alright to get up to go potty during naptime.
i went through this when I had my twins and my now 6 yr old was 4. He wanted to start wearing a diaper and started pooping himself. The dr told me that this is normal when they have a setback as you would say. But if he has been there for 2 yrs now, I would be trying to figure out what has changed...

I worked in a homedaycare awhile back as a helper for this woman and we had a little boy same age doing the exact same thing. We figured out he was afraid to get up at nap time and use the potty because before he was trained it was a big no no to get up at nap time that meant the kids were playing around. He was also scared of the dark. So we insisted to him it was ok anytime he needed to go potty to just get up and go and we put up extra night lights. If we heard him wiggling around on his nap mat we knew he was awake and would bring him to the bathroom.
I am a childcare provider myself, and I agree with many other posters, that it very well may be due to the fact that your child has not been informed that he may use the bathroom even at nap hour. I had a similar incident with a child that has been in my care since she was in her Mommy's belly, she's been trained for about 4 months now and seems to do fine, and has had accidents during nap time here and there, I figured out that I never told her it was okay to go potty, therefore she thought that she would 'get in trouble'. I would bring your concern to your provider ask if your child knows he can ue the potty, get feedback from the provider, I am sure there is a reasonable explanation.
