They will fall out in the order they came in.. I remember losing my first before I was 5.. I actually was holding it in the playground and dropped it! Never found it, but the tooth fairy still came that night..
My 4 1/2 year old told me tonight that his tooth hurt, so I started feeling around and felt that the tooth that was hurting was loose. It is his bottom front right tooth (which I think was the first tooth he ever got). I thought he was too young to start losing teeth, but realize that there is a broad range of timelines for all milestones. Has anyone heard of/had experience with a child this young losing teeth? Of course I'm calling the dentist on Monday when they are open...just looking for some mom advice until then! (Luckily he's really excited about it and wants it to fall out so the tooth fairy can come.. I'm just hoping it's nothing serious.)
Thanks in advance for your support!

thats when my daughter started loosing hers..... its perfectly normal! she got them early so they came out early.
My son has lost 1 tooth, that was 4 months ago. It was1 month after his 4th birthday when it got loose and fell out. I was concerned but did some web searches and called a dentist to discover that it was no biggy! :)
I do miss his complete smile.
My son was the same age when he lost his first tooth. Same tooth as your son. My sister, a dental hygentist, told me not to worry, that all kids are different. His dentist said the same thing. Good luck.
I was a nanny for two different families and both boys were around that age, not yet 5, when they lost their fron tooth so you probably have nothing to worry about. Except maybe how much has inflation changed how much the tooth ferry leaves?
Side-note: Laurie A's response was awesome:)
yeah he's probably just got a loose tooth. As long as the tooth and all his teeth look healthy....like not yellow, brown or black with lots of plaque built up and his gums look fine too.....like not bleeding, bad breath or swelling then I bet it's just a loose tooth. No big deal.
That's about the age my son started.
My niece also 4.5 just lost her bottom tooth too. It is early but no big deal.
Normal... my 16 yr old started losing hers by 4. By age 11 she had lost all the teeth she was supposed to lose and had her 12 yr molars.
She has a perfect set of pearly whites with no orthodintic work needed at all.
When the pediatric dentist suggests sealants for the permanent teeth.... do it. Our insurance at the time covered it.
Most of my son's friends started losing their teeth between 4 & 5. He was one SAD little boy that he still had all of his teeth until several months after his 5th birthday so he had to w.a.i.t....f.o.r.e.v.e.r. for the toothfairy. Our dentist said any time between 4 & 6. The only concern being if a tooth started coming in behind the baby teeth before the baby tooth had fallen out. But ALSO that it could take 6-12mo for the adult tooth to erupt or could already be poised and start coming in immediately. In our son's case it took over 6 months, so each new tooth had to cut through again because the hole in the gum had healed. Huzzah for tylenol.
My son had lost two teeth at that age, it took a few months for the second one to come in but it was fine. The dentist said it was normal.
He too lost the first tooth- I mean lost it while he was taking a nap and we couldn't find the tooth- we think he swallowed it- so we had him draw a picture of his tooth and left it for the tooth-fairy- who happily accepted the picture =). I would say it's fine and some kids start early, I couldn't believe it either when it happened! =)
Good luck! and take care,
H.
Of course take him to the dentist if you are concerned but it seems that from 4 on is considered "normal" especially if he got his teeth early. Those are also the first teeth that become loose. I would be more alarmed if it was an odd tooth like a canine. My daughter just turned 5 in December and her first tooth (bottom right as well) became loose a few months before she turned 5. Like you, we were very shocked that she had a loose tooth at 4 years old and didn't know what to make of it. We thought 4 was very young to be dealing with loose teeth! She wiggled it for quite a while, but it ended up not coming out until a few days after her 5th birthday. : ) Good luck! They are always so excited about that first one!!!
My daughter was also 4 1/2, she was off the charts for her height and weight, so they attributed that to her losing them early, but she lost all 4 bottom rather quickly, then she turned 5 and lost all 4 top. Crazy! I felt it was early too, but it wasn't! Have fun being the toothfairy!
