I know people have a lot to say about the "status" strollers--I was one of them. I felt there's no way in the world a stroller of that price was necessary and that people only really bought things like that to feel somewhat superior when they're out with their children. But before I had my second child in July (after a 7 year pregnancy hiatus), I knew to look at quality. There's some truth in the saying, "Buy quality and you only cry once". If you haven't set your heart completely on the Stokke, I would HIGHLY recommend the Orbit Baby Stroller system (www.orbitbaby.com)! Hey, I'm a practical person, there are times I buy things for my baby from Ikea or Target or use second hand items, and there are times when (as in this case) quality counts and I feel ok in spending on something a bit on the higher side. I have taken 6 airplane flights with my now 5 month old BY MYSELF, and this stroller is easy like nothing I or any of the TSA workers at security had ever seen! I can literally close it up with one hand while I was holding my baby. I swear to you! I don't know if you've seen it, but it's the kind with the swivel base that you attach the car seat to. When the baby is older and too big for the infant seat, you get the toddler car seat for the car and what they call the toddler seat for the stroller. The toddler seat collapses with the stroller base as well. Plus they have a great travel bag! I'm out with my son a lot by myself and let me tell you, this is easy as pie. And putting the car seat in the car on the Orbit base is even easier. Seriously. No, it's not an umbrella stroller, so of course it's not as thin, but it is pretty compact. Check out the website and see the other features, especially how it works in restaurants which is amazing! With 2 children already, you deserve to do and have whatever is necessary to make things a little easier for you.
I hope this was helpful...and no, I don't work for Orbit Baby! lol I'm just a mom of 2 (one age 7 and one age 5 months) who's also separated from her husband who did a lot of research. Take care!
