Is there any easy way to clean up cat hair? I love my two new siamese cats, but now, everything in my house is dusted with their white hair. It sticks to the broom and vaccuuming isn't helping enough--especially on the couch. Help!

What can I do next?

Go to www.scottcommonsense.com
type in cat hair in the search box at the top then hit "enter". Pick the solution that works best for you. Lemme know how it goes. You can also join that community and get a daily "tip". I've found this website very useful.
Good luck

The Fly Lady (flylady.net) sells a rubber tool that apparently works wonders on cat hair - the "rubba scrubba". The "rubba sweepa" would work on the floors (carpet included). There are a lot of testimonials, though we don't have a cat, so haven't bought those yet. I'm still thinking about it.

We used Lint Rollers for dog hair, but this can get expensive! We have also used masking tape. Get a role of the widest masking tape you can find. Places like Lowes, and Home Depot have a good selection, Tear off a piece large enough to wrap around your fingers and go to work. When it is not picking up anymore then turn it over and use the other side. Replace as needed. We have also found that putting sheets over the furniture is easier to clean. Take the sheet off, being careful to not drop the hair on the floor, take it outside for a quick shake or to the laundry for a washing. Also if I don't clean up the dog hair every day or so it is much worse. Good Luck

Buy some standard household rubber gloves used for doing dishes and brush over the furniture. This gets cat hair off furniture like a dream.

This thing is a MIRACLE. I could not believe how well it works! Forget the sticky rollers, every other method stinks compared to this!
You can buy these at Walmart or Target, all over the place really.

I too, have a siamese, also a long hair, and 2 blonde dogs. I found long ago, that leather or vinyl furniture works better. They have the rollers in all of the grocery stores, pet stores and even costco. And if you buy them their own beds and teach them to use them, it helps some. Good luck. Brushing helps alot too. People who have cats learn to live with it.

We have a Siberian Huskey that sheds all the time. We use the double lint roller plastic container made by Pledge. It picks up the hair really well and it stays trapped inside the plastic.

Use an old fashioned style lint brush. The big red ones work well

I just bought a huge lint roller for furniture at Walmart and it seems to work so far. We have three cats.
I also bought this "furminator" from Petsmart. It is pretty expensive I think 30$ but it works and gets all that underhair out. I also have three dogs and this little comb is working very well. It takes a while at first but then as you use it more it gets easier.
I had a friend you bathed her cats. I don't do that.

I use the lint rollers that you can buy in bulk at the BJs and other warehouse stores. I have a black and white cat so it doesn't matter where she sits - she's white underneath and black on top! :)

Hi M.,

Go to google.com and in the search box type, remove cat hair.

A rubber glove sounds like the answer.

Hope this information helps. Let me know.

Thank you.

Merry Christmas.

Have you tried sticky tape. I know that this sounds trivial, but I use it on my clothes when the cats have rubbed up against me.
Hope this helps.

Dont know what the material is on your couch but the ONLY thing that gets cat hair off my couch is to wrap packaging tape around my hand and wipe it over my couch. I have to replace the wrap many times to get the whole couch done but it is the only thing that works.

At one point my mom had 4 long haired Himalayan cats. So, I'm sure what dealing w/ is minor, in comparison to amount of hair and dander in her house. I used 2 of the previously mentioned suggestions. Tape & Rubber gloves. They both work well. The rubber gloves worked the best, overall. I found that lightly misty them w/ a little H20 improved the method.

Now, to really keep a handle on things I strongly recommend trying to do the following. 1) brush cats at least once a day (the soft silicon brushes do a great job). 2) Vacuum carpeted areas and/or furniture daily or every other day. Not only will this cut down on hair build up, it decreases dander and saliva in the air that can multiple health issues.

I've had cats for years and understand the hair thing.

Rubber gloves will remove the hair from almost anything. I like Rubbermaid.

Tape works as would a sticky lint roller. I have used a damp cloth as well as one of those napped lint removers. That worked the best to get the most fur off.
