You know, a good one is a wine and cheese basket. go get that canned cheese (I think it is called EZ cheese) and a bottle of Boone's strawberry hill or some other cheap wine.

That was a funny one at my husbands work party!

I know people who have given half eaten bags of chips and some trash as a white elephant gift and here we are three years later and everyone is talking about how tacky and horrible that gift was. I would recommend you not to do it. Hope you think of something wonderful.

I actually liked Lolly's idea.....come on girlz help our friend S. with more ideas.... i just found this one...it's called the HOme Exerciser....The home exerciser is a block of wood with this saying printed on paper glued to it.

HOME EXERCISER
1. Place in middle of the floor
2. Walk around it two times
3. Rest, you've just walked around the block two times

Every year my parents had to go to one on New Years. Someone took a belly button brush. Over the years it came back every year and was a surprise who would get it next. G. W( do not know where you would find one but may some how make one)?

Make a RUBBER TREE by attaching condoms to a piece of floral foam and planting it in a flower pot or coffee mug.

Make a home exercise kit with a block of wood in a bag with instructions attached that say place block on floor, walk around it two times, now rest....after all you've walked around the block twice!

Make some REDNECK BUBBLE BATH by placing some uncooked pinto beans in a jar or bag with a tag that says Cook beans and eat about an hour before bathing!

I'm sorry, I don't get how it's funny, so I guess to me it's tacky.

I always thought that although it was a "gag" gift it should be new and not used.

A really funny gift I remember from a White Elephant party was a "party in a box". Get a shoe box and put some party supplies in it...party hat, blow horn, left over streamers, party favors, ect. This is a great way to get rid of those leftover party supplies! Have fun tonight!

I would say include a candle/long lighter or some long matches & you're good!

I say candle by itself...not so funny but using the other ideas such as the can of soup or the matches/lighter...now you have funny ;)

A couple of years ago, my white elephant gift was a roll of toilet paper and a can of metamucil! :) Everyone had a good laugh at that one! Have a great time!!

As a grandmother, I have been to many white elephant gifts and yours is as good as any. It is not about buying a gift but just the fun of sharing silly gifts. If not comfortable with your selection, go through the house and think what do I have that I really don't need or want. From the kitchen,bathroom,bedroom,closets,and kids rooms.

Tacky,but then again, I think the other gifts were also. White Elephant should be a new gift that you purchased or that you received and have no use for, but maybe someone else can use. At the partys we have, we usually set a $10-15 amount.There are gag gifts that can be purchased for that amount, there are also decent gifts a person on a budget can buy for that amount.

You could include a can of soup with a card saying, "A CANDLELIGHT DINNER FOR TWO!" HEEHE

Scratch-off lottery tickets are a great gift!

I went to one years ago and we brought a (new) Alvin and The Chipmunks CD (found @ Walgreens) and taped a $10 store gift card to it. People fought over it. IT was the most popular one there. have fun

I would not do the half burned candle unless it was a really cool candle. What other stuff have you got lying around? Fake flowers? An old tacky vase? A knick knack souvenier spoon or figurine? Old art that you have replaced that sits stuffed in a corner or in storage? There are so many things that are your trash that would be someone new's treasure or funny.

I think that would be a little tacky (not funny) lol! You can do something like a dancing santa, erotic gifts, etc.

The dinner for two would be funny if you included a can of soup, but definitely not the candle by itself. I've been to white elephants where a lot of people brought nice stuff. Not nessacerily new, but nice, usable stuff they didn't want or need. Then one person brought something really useless that no one wanted and you always feel bad for the person that gets stuck with that gift.

I have been to lots of White Elephants. I have taken and received silly things (like a rubber rat, a white elephant, WWF thumb wrestlers and a framed picture of a monkey- and my favorite, an artistically painted toilet seat!) I have given and received nice things (jewelry, tickets to the dollar cinema, ect) and then there have been the tacky gifts. These are the half used items, empty package of cookies, and other trash.

I try to consider that what I give should be something I would have fun receiving. And since people can steal gifts, giving something that a lot of people might want makes for an entertaining show! If it's a nice candle (think Yankee) or in a really cool container, then it might be ok. But if it's not, well, I think that's tacky.

A really neat thing at the Dollar Tree- in the candy and cookie aisle there's marshmallow ice cream cones with marshmallow 'ice cream.' So cute and unexpected! and it only costs $1!

I actually think it's pretty funny, but I was wondering what kind of home business do you have? Looking for something at home so I can stay w/my babies...have 1 yearold to be (Dec13th) and due in June.....I drive an hour each way now...just wondering if it's a business venture anyone can do from home??? i dont know, it depend on the people. other great gag gifts are white tic tacs in a ziplock bag with a note that says something to the effect of since you've been bad santa left you snowman poop.

there are lots of different kinds, reindeer (brown M&Ms) elf (red and green M&Ms). you can google it. under reindeer/elf/snowman poop. i have seen them alot at high priced one of kind fancy stores lately. but the note has to be super cute (good penmenship) with a little picture/stamp of a elf/reindeer/snowman to pull it off. its a cute gag gift.

I love the idea of including a can of soup and a lighter or matches for the "dinner for two". Totally funny! Although, even by itself, I would get a good laugh out of it. I tend to not take things like this too seriously, so I say go for it and have a great time. It's anonymous anyway, right? So, if it bombs, nobody has to know it came from you! :-)
