How fabulous, J.! I'm so happy for you!
Keep your diet as natural as possible: opt for foods that are free of synthetic ingredients, artificial colors/flavors, and additives like MSG. Eat as BALANCED a diet as you can to keep cravings at bay (they'll still happen, but not as bad!) and drink lots of water.
Vitamins/supplements: Find a natural, complete prenatal vitamin that supplies you w/at LEAST 800 mg of folic acid. Dark, leafy greens also contain folate (folic acid - helps to prevent certain birth defects) and calcium - important for both you and baby. If you can't stomach them alone (I know a lot of women who couldn't tolerate salads) work them into other meals: frozen spinach in your pasta sauce or eggs, butternut squash puree in mac and cheese, etc) I would also recommend taking 1000mg of DHA/Omega 3 Fish oil and perhaps a green food supplement to help you boost veggies. Biovaxine is an AMAZING, complete liquid vitamin that will supply all of your vitamins, minerals, green food, power fruits and enzymes.
Eating Well When You're Expecting is a terrific resource for knowing what - and what not! - to eat. It also contains some fantastic recipes.
All the best to you for a happy, healthy pregnancy!
Eat sardines. Mega brain food. Mix with some natural Hellmans (also brain food) and eat a couple times per week on whole multigrain crackers. It's the most potent fish and without the sushi mercury problem and salmon price tag. Congrats. Look up super foods-they're best for pregnancy too. Always go for the real natural food over supplements (but take your prenatals just in case)
Congratulations! Good that you want to eat right and do the right thing. Sounds like you think you caused the preeclampsia. You can do everything "right" and still have it. I'm saying this so that you can stop feeling guilty and not to discourage you.
Woohoo! Green leafy vegetables...the darker the better.
Congrats. Make the focus be whole grains and fresh produce. Get organic for "the dirty dozen". Don't skip dairy and lean protein.
Find something that feels good and helps ground you. I would also recommend acupuncture and yoga.
Focus on good thoughts and images and that will help the physical health as well.
yay....congrats....
Dont eat junk food :)
CONGRATULATIONS! I always just ate whatever I could without throwing up! Not the best advice I know but I was a puker! ..oh and small meals/snacks more often!
Congratulations!!
I would do a doctor appointment to see if he can get you some vitamins samples.
COngrats!
I am super focused on eating healthy - but when I was pregnant I was SO naseous, my eating totally switched during that icky first trimester. Go with what your body tells you to! I couldn't eat anything green during the first trimester! Listen to your body, and eat what seems right to you, esp if you are naseous. I ate cheap potato chips and drank coke to settle my tummy - but only until the neasau subsided, then went totally healthy - green salads, lots of whole grains and veggies, lots of protein (mostly lean, some steaks for the iron!)
Congratulations!
Yeah!!!!! Congratulations mom :-)
congratulations.....and eat what you crave!, but when in doubt, fruits and veggies, cant go wrong with those!
Congrats - so happy that you are so happy!
I would just add that vitamin pills are only absorbed 20-30%, so they aren't really very useful and are largely a waste of money. You have no idea what you're getting or not getting. They can also sit in the stomach and irritate it, which is even tougher for pregnant women who may already have nausea.
The best supplement you can take is one that is balanced with all the vitamins & minerals & nutrients all in one product. Reliv International makes a phenomenal supplement that received a US government patent over 20 years ago, proving it to be safe, unique & effective. I know many many women who have used it as their prenatal as well as their basic nutrition - several have told me that their doctors were astounded at the health of their newborns and the size of the umbilical cord delivering all that nutrition to the baby. The product is guaranteed and a trained distributor will connect you with others who have used it as you intend to - it's great support & customer service. There are also free info programs in your area - you can go and learn, and no one will take your name & hound you - it's very professionally done and extremely informative. Let me know if you are interested and I will get you the location.
Find "what to expect when you're expecting" - lots of info (sometimes TOO much) but good info re. taking care of yourself. Talk to your doc about nutrition. Eat a varied diet. You don't have to give up a lot of stuff you like, just check with your doc on stuff you're not sure of and cut back on caffine, etc. Congrats :)
