Okay Mamas, I need some help. My almost 4 year old daughter is still a little on the chunky side, mostly her thighs. She has recently started noticing that other kids (especially her brother, who is a stick) wear jeans and "button pants". She now too wants to wear these but I am having trouble, even with the adjustable belt, finding jeans that fit her legs. Thoughts?

I would try the GAP. My 4 year old son falls into the "stick" category and I find that he really can't wear their jeans/pants because they seem to always run big in the leg and mid-section.
you have recieved many good ideas, i wanted to add one more. I too have a "chunky" daughter who just turned 5. I have started a couple years ago, just buying jeans that fit her waist, then i would hem the bottoms. all you have to do is just off the bottom, leaving 1 inchor so, then fold under and sew a straight line.
Try a store that offers different styles. I love children's place they have slim, regular, and husky all with adjustable waists I don't know what they offer for girls bc I have 2 boys but for boys they have a few different styles.
JC Penney sell many different lines of clothing , and 1 size in one line isn't cut the same as the same size in another line , plus they are very cheap and always have a sale , I buy a lot of my kids clothes from there.
My 4yr old daughter has had the same issue for the past 2 years. I've found that toddler and little girls jeans today are being cut like jeans for teenage girls -- very tight in the legs and quite low rise. They are awful. I've tried Old Navy, Childrens Place, JCPenney, Sears and even boys jeans. None fit my daughter correctly and comfortably.
I finally found girls jeans with a more traditional cut at Von Maur. The brand of the jeans is "Pumpkin Patch." They come in toddler through big girl sizes. They are pricey (we get them as gifts from Grandma.) Maybe you can find them at stores around you on sale. But they are definitely in-style and look fantastic on my daughter. Nothing frumpy or "too baggy" about them..
Childrens place online has plus for girls, hopefully with an adj. Waist. You might also try farm and fleet childrens section.
You could also learn to sew, if you've got a machine. You could make her faux button pants, that are still elastic waist. You can go to sewing mamas.com for some pattern recommendations, maybe kwik sew or jalie, or a boutique pattern designer. I wouldn't try any simplicity, butterick, mccalls.... Just to avoid frustration.
Walmart has a decent jean that doesn't break the bank!
Have you tried Sears. They have plus sizes for girls. My daughter has big legs also and those jeans worked for her.
Childrens Place has a few different types of fits in their jeans you can try. Old Navy also has different fits.
Check out GAP boy jeans. I get them for my daughter because they're the most comfy jeans out there, but there's one loose-fit cut that I think could fit just about any child. Also, most girl cut jeans are cut thinner through the thigh. This is why I started buying boy jeans for my daughter who wanted to run and jump and play and couldn't in the girl cut jeans. I would ditch girl styles all together, which are cut for fashion, and stick with boys, which are cut for comfort.
Some stores (JCPenney, Sears, Land's End) carry plus sizes. They may be a little roomier in the legs.
