i would try sparkpeople.com. they are free. they have an online community that is very supportive. different groups that will interest you. and they track your exercise and your food. they let you know how much food you need to eat to loose what weight you want to. i've lost 25lbs and kept it off. oh, did i mention it's free?

Hi, I have done both programs and am currently doing WW. I loved the ease of Jenny Craig, but it was very expensive. And, unfortunately for me, it didn't teach me how to eat in the real world. We like to eat out alot and that was a problem but my biggest problem was that when I stopped eating their prepared food, I gained back everything I lost and then some. Thats why I am on WW now. At WW I have lost 35 lbs and have learned how to make healthy choices. I can still go out with everyone and enjoy myself, I just have to choose something that fits into my point total. I love the support I get at the meetings and feel this is a program I can do for life.

Best of luck to you,

M.

I've responded to a lot of these questions since I did JC after each of my preganancies(2 boys-2 and 4 years old). It's easy beacause everything is set up for you, they give you menus incorporating their food and the fruits and veggies you need, how much exercise you should be doing, and weekly meetings make you accountable and think twice about eating the bad stuff. The cost can be pretty high, I kept my cost down by just buying their breakfast, lunches, and snacks-no dinners or just a couple, but it can range anywhere from $80-$150/week.
I lost between 20-30 each time and was able to keep it off before getting pregnant the second time, and have kept it off this time, even losing a little more on my own. You have to be committed to the program and even more to working out to keep it off. I work out 3 times/week, watch what I eat, but still eat out, fast food occasionally, and of course chocolate or sweets when I want. Once you learn what and how much to eat, it becomes easier and the second time I did JC, i only did it for about 2-3 months and was done because I lost all the weight I wanted to. Good luck

Well my honest opinon is all of them work but its more along the lines is what works for you WW is the one that I have had the most luck on its 13.oo weekly and they have other membership fees. Both diets focus and portion control as to where like the Atkins you can eat all you want and without carbohydrates well its been modified I think. I think that you know yourself better. I have heard Jenny Craig is very expensive and I have steered clear of that. I am actually going to use these Herbal supplements that my friend sells and uses and hopefully get the same results.... Good luck 20 pounds isnt alot I have a long journey ahead of me

I like WW. I paid like $18 a month for the online tools. It teaches you how and what to eat. I dont think I would like prepared foods because I couldnt eat what my family was eating, and what are you supposed to do when you go out to eat? Bring a prepared meal with you? With WW I knew what I could eat at restaurants. Plus, you are able to make your own dinners and the whole family eats healthier. Its how I lost my baby weight each time.

Weight Watchers! They teach you how to eat and live a healthy life. You're not stuck with prepared meals; you learn how to eat in the real world, making meals for the entire family that are healthy and tasty, and making smart choices at restaurants. I lost 20 lbs. on them last year and have kept it off.

Really avoid the free websites with full programs. I used SparkPeople before WW and they put me on WAY too low a calorie count. My body went into starvation mode, not to mention I felt like I was starving, and I didn't lose a pound in two weeks on it. I switched to WW, ate a whole lot more and lost immediately.

In college, I worked at Jenny Craig.
Its clients, was a very wide range of people... and many that were referred to the JC program, by their Doctors. People who had weight problems, or health problems, and breastfeeding Moms too. They have special menu plans, for vegetarians, breastfeeding Moms and Diabetics. For example.

It incorporates, a menu, exercise and weekly meetings with your Consultant, which is only about 15 minutes.
And a weigh in.

Now, I don't know if the program is still the same, as when I worked there many years ago.
So, but when I did work there, this is how it was.

The program is good and was successful for many people.
The food does taste good. It is already prepared, thus it is easy.
It incorporates daily meals and snacks, throughout the day.

But like anything... it is the person themselves, that has to WANT to, do it. You need your personal motivation and discipline about it.
The reason people 'fail'... is because they did not do what they are supposed to.

all the best,
Susan
