Today was a particularily loud, screamy, crying, "why can't we all just get along' type morning in our house. The 2 year old was sceaming and wouldn't get dressed-then she wrapped her naked self around me, (in my work clothes), neverminding the fact that she had butt paste on her touchie, the 4 year old was screaming and wouldn't go downstairs with dad, dad was yelling and no one was listening and I was just trying to get us out the door. :)

Please-won't you share one of your best morning stories?!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

In answer to the Butt Paste question...I DID go to work with BP on my clothes. :) Luckily it's a heather grey sweater so it blended in fairly well.

Hmmm... I leave for work really early in the morning, so my husband typically gets the kids up and moving for daycare and preschool. He always calls me after he drops them off so that I know they are in and safe. I usually get that call by 8:15.

So, three weeks ago 9:00 comes and goes... no phone call. Wierd, so I called him to see if everything was OK. He had just walked into his office and was running to a meeting.

Me: "You just got to work? Is everything OK with the kids?"
Him: "They are fine. They are also both very clean."
Me: "What? What happened?"
Him: "The baby pooped all over herself and JD thought he was helping by hugging her. They both needed a bath before we could leave the house. You're welcome. I'm late and I love you."

Oh wow. Did you make it to work on time in spite of it all?

Some fool woke me up at 2:30am bc he couldn't sleep by tossing and turning in bed and then clamoring dramatically down the stairs and then hacking and coughing while opening cabinet and pantry doors in the kitchen to make a snack and get a drink. So I've been up since then and I'm wiped out. I think I forgot to give my kid breafast this morning. I remember pouring milk for him but that's it. I hope he made it on the school bus...

Up at 0600. Get dressed in uniform, put in contacts, go let dog out.

Dog wastes 10 minutes of my time being adorable. All her fault, of course.

Back to bathroom. Put on makeup, brush teeth. Starting to look less scary.

Hear DS2 thumping down the stairs, fully dressed. He's an early riser. No alarm. Sooooo weird, but okay. He's a "morning person." If I didn't push him out, I'd insist he's not mine. What 10 year old gets up at 0615?

Greet DS2 and talk to him about dog (she's a new family member). He goes out back to play with the dog. Comes in in 5 minutes complaining that she won't fetch (she usually does). Probably looking for someplace to potty. Good dog...not peeing inside makes her an excellent dog. :-)

0640, wake up DS1. DS1 comes down fully dressed and asks me to fix his unruly hair. What a mess! Okay, all fixed. DS1 packs up his stuff and goes to drag the trash can to the curb, then waits for the bus.

Time to do the hair. It's getting too long. I put it up into an Army-Approved sock-bun, braid the rest around it, and spray the heck out of it with Aqua Net (Unscented is THE BEST!).

Wander around and talk to DS2. Pet the dog.

0710, go grab breakfast food, my purse, phone, and tell DS2 goodbye and don't forget to let the dog out once more and lock the front door. DS2 spontaneously hugs me goodbye. Awww.

Off I go.

Mornings are stress-free in my house. I hope you find a way to make your's stess free too.

ETA: Sorry it's not more interesting...

I'm appreciating that my children are teens..kind of...

We just had a little argument over whether all the bags were packed because they're leaving for their dad's house at noon. Then we argued over what time they had to leave the house. Then we argued because I very calmly told him NOT to yell at me. Then my daughter hugged me and said I love you, have a great day. I no longer cared about the arguing.

Well our dusting of snow that was supposed to turn to rain became several inches of snow followed by driving sheets of sleet, so I had to drive all of the kids to school today (normally the older two walk themselves at around 7 or 7:15, the next one I walk part way at about 8:15 and the youngest I walk all the way at 8:45). They all have to walk home though, so I had to first venture into the basement and haul out jackets, hats, gloves and boots for the younger boys (the teenagers are too cool for warmth so they'll trudge home cold and wet). Middle boy put up a huge fight about needing to wear not only outwear but actually having to wear pants, so he ended up losing his next play date, video games, TV and dessert privileges. And was late to school anyway, because I was almost out of gas and had to go to the gas station first. So with all of this drama, I wasn't able to start the crock pot before heading out the door with my youngest, so I had to go back home, finish starting dinner and getting myself out the door, then had to call into my staff meeting because there was no way I was going to make it in by 10. After an hour on that meeting, I headed into the office (still New England Nasty out there) and got here about 45 minutes ago. So getting out of here at 7 or 8 tonight will be just AWESOME.

Thanks for letting me vent!

the other morning.. i guess because of the time change our 3month old daughter is a little off on her schedule, she went to sleep an hour early, so she woke up an hour early. Usually she wakes up at 530am, right when daddys alarm goes off, so i feed her change her and put her back to sleep for another couple hours, by that time daddys dressed and ready to leave. Well the other morning she woke up at 4am, ate her bottle incredibly slowly and by the time she fell asleep daddys alarm went off, she woke up. My fiance says to set the alarm to go back off in a half hour because hes going to a different job... when he finally woke up n started getting ready, he was in and out of the room 900 times, asking me where his jacket was and, big surprise, she woke up again. I went to change her and she peed all over the changing table so i had to change her whole outfit... by then she was wide awake and was not going to go back to sleep... oh and she decided to not nap at all that day until about 230 in the afternoon.. and to make the morning even better, the dog went out side to pee and stepped in his giant pile of poop in the yard and made nice little poop footprints all over our dining room rug

LOL... Today was a history lesson.

Plumbing problem = no running water = heating up water on the stove and bathing from a basin. Using water bottles next to sinks to wash our hands. Oh. Flush toilets? Nope!!! Totally chamberpot.
