JFF - Had to Do it...favorite Video Game Soundtracks/sounds?

Okay, had to do it, sorry...

I am in love with Koji Kondo, the man who wrote the soundtracks for most (if not all) of the Mario and Zelda games. I have the sheet music for all of them, and I love to play them on the piano. I would love to have Zelda music on CD.

Video game sound effects are fun, too...again, I mostly love Mario and Zelda, although there are some other great ones.

Anyone else have a favorite video game song/sound?

(BTW, my favorite Zelda song is the Windmill Theme from Ocarina of Time, and my favorite Mario Song is the theme from Dire Dire Docks from Mario 64.)

What can I do next?

Okay, I am not really into video games like my kids are-no time for that. I know they have their faves. But, the game sound that I really like is the sounds of pinball with the ball hitting all the targets and making that pinging and bell sound. Basic and not overwhelming like I hear some of my kids playing.

Why do I hear the Pac Man music right now??

I am not big into video games myself, since we didn't have any when I grew up, but a very dear friend of mine is OBSESSED with gamer music. He goes to the conventions and hopes to compose and perform it for a living. His favorite is the Final Fantasy music.

In case you are interested, he's got quite an impressive collection of some of his original compositions available to stream (free of course) at http://soundcloud.com/lontas

Doo doo DOO da doo DOO!

Yah... Mario is childhood.

Currently, however, it's Halo. Because it's my favorite game series. LOVE hearing the opening strains for it. Happy making.

I am not into video games, but my husband is, so I hear them in the background a lot...I really like the soundtrack to Splinter Cell. It is so relaxing! We used to have the tv in our room and I would drift right to sleep when he played that game... I hated when he switched to Halo with all its explosions and rat-a-tat tat!

My son would LOVE it if I played the Mario songs on the piano--were the sheets hard to find? I haven't looked.....

i can always tell exactly what he's thinking about because He's very good at making all of the video game noises...he's special :)
