S.D.
I'm an adiminstrative assistant for a group of doctors. I love it, but not as much as my previous job as a zookeeper!
what is your profession/ job? Do you enjoy it?
Looks like we have a wide array of Mamas (& Papas) here! I myself am a Mama by profession. I work flex in pharmacy to pay the bills. I love how flexible it is. DH is a NICU nurse and is very involved in his career so this setup also allows him more freedom in that regard.
I'm an adiminstrative assistant for a group of doctors. I love it, but not as much as my previous job as a zookeeper!
I am a glass artist and actually started getting commissions for my mosaics. My goal this year is to make enough money to support my glass addiction!
I absolutely love it but I have had trigger finger in 4 different fingers now so I can't work nearly as much as I want.
I am a Business Financial Manager and I LOVE it!! I have always loved math. My degrees are both focused in finance as well...so I definitely went to school for what I do.
I have the flexibility to work from home some days, and that is extremely helpful with three kids.
I'm a retired police officer snd yes, I enjoyed it. The job was very stressful and I did ask myself often why I stayed with it. I took a years leave and traveled. I had to also work part of the time. I decided to return to my job; that doing anything else at less pay and without benefits was not as satisfactory. Having that pay and those benefits, both contractual and just by being an officer was worth having the stress.
I liked being an experienced officer with a broad base of knowledge that enabled me to help others. I enjoyed the challenge of dealing with a variety of people in all sorts of situations. I was also part of a close knit group. I felt like I was doing important work.
Later after a comment about women being difficult I have to add that men can be just as difficult. I worked primarily with men and saw men giving each other a difficult time. Some also gave me a difficult time. The most outrageous one quit rather than have me as his supervisor. Took an early retirement.
I drive a school bus. I like the job, but hate hate hate how early I have to get up. I also work at a dental lab between my morning and afternoon bus runs. I assist in making the metal pieces that go into partials. It's an interesting job, but I don't love it. I work both of these jobs because I"m a single parent and the hours work around my daughter. She graduates this year though and I plan on leaving both jobs and hopefully starting my own business once she's in college.
Stay at home dad. Everyday.
Hausfrau Extraordinaire! Yes, I love being home right now!
Worked with kids for about 20 years before we decided the time had come for me to just take care of our little guy and the big guy as well. I like being home and he likes having the housework done and dinner made when he comes home, and Kiddo gets me and a lot of freedom because he's with me (as well as a homework buddy)... win/win/win
I'M a caseworker for elderly & disabled.

For the past 11 years I have been a SAHM who works part time in child care and I love it. For 15 years before I had kids I had been a restaurant manager and I hated it.
I am a Payroll Manager for a division at a college. I like it but the hours can be long. I do wish I could work from home a few days a week but I am happy to have a job that I like. I like the people that work for me. I have one that can be a challenge sometimes but that's what happens when you work with all women. I do like my job and don't mind coming in everyday.
My background is computers & accounting but for the last 20 years I have worked from home with a food science company and I LOVE it.
I help people live healthier lives, get off of medications and develop thriving businesses of their own. It has given me a tremendous sense of purpose and I've built an income producing asset that I can will to my children.
I've always been SAHM.
6 yrs ago, hubby and I started our own company in the field he has worked in for the last 25 yrs. He does all the sales, purchasing, consulting, travel and I manage all the financials, payroll, taxes, traffic, warehousing, travel among many other things that go along with running your own company.
Love it... Love being our own boss. Of course there are some stressful times sometimes but in the long run, it has been well worth it.
I'm a half-time elementary reading specialist and work with small groups of kids who are struggling with reading. I am also a coach for an AmeriCorps reading tutor who works in our building. Overall I love the job. I love to teach kids how to love reading.
Previously I taught 3rd grade, Gifted and Talented, Title I reading and math, Reading Recovery, and undergrad education majors. I have also worked with potential at-risk elementary students, ran an after-school program for elementary aged children of university students and staff, and worked for an organization that provided job training and job opportunities for adults with disabilities.
My dream job would be a low stress job that would allow me the opportunity to sit and read a book (of my choice) for 8 hours a day. Maybe a parking lot attendant.
I was a Cobol programmer for 19 years and then a business analyst for 8 years.
I loved both my jobs but they were both off-shored.
Now I'm unemployed and looking for work.
Feels weird because I haven't had to look for work in 27 years and things have changed so much since I finished college.
I've worked from home for the last 8 years - it was the perfect job - I'm still mourning it's loss.
Guess I'm spoiled but I don't want to commute into an office and build a career wardrobe again.
I'll figure out something eventually.
I work with foster kids. I love it.
Interesting array of jobs below!
I am a house keeper. I actually do love it.
Right now I am a student, and it quite enjoy it. I especially enjoy the potential it is giving me!
Before going back to school, I mostly worked retail and as a cake decorator. I actually LOVED working at the store I was at. It was a video rental/ video, music, book store with a bunch of random stuff thrown in. I was trained for every department, so I never got too restless from doing the same thing every day. I especially loved dealing with customers... Even when they got snarky. I enjoyed cake decorating as well, and am glad that I did it because it saves me a lot of money on birthdays!
And of course, there is the whole Mommy job... Which definitely counts as a full-time "profession!"
I am an attorney working for the federal government.
Pros: flexiplace two times per week, flextime, credit hours (any extra time I work can be banked up to 24 hours to use instead of vacation leave/sick leave whenever I please).
Cons: the job is boring and it's really hard to move up.
I love being able to work at home, especially because my daughter's young (15 months), but I can't say I love my job. I would love to work part-time and be a part-time SAHM.
I am a Legal Assistant working in criminal defense. I LOVE my job!
My title is Senior Business Data Analyst and I work for one of the world's largest consulting and benefits administration companies. I like my job - it's interesting, challenging without being too stressful, and gives me a lot of flexibility in that I can work from home 3 days a week. The best way to describe what I do is that I provide some business-critical data that's a bit of a complex mess that no one else wants to take on (job security!) and I answer a lot of random questions for our clients, their employees, and my internal colleagues.
I am also a test prep instructor, teaching mostly SAT curriculum via group classes and private tutoring, in-person and on-line. I also present to parents at special events at area high schools. That's a fun side job and a way for me to teach, which I enjoy, but earn a corporate salary, which I need.
I have a lot of years in child care, working in the classroom, cooking, driving a van and picking up/dropping off, and have actually owned a center with over 50 kids enrolled.
I also have many years in developmental disabilities, My field of preference. I wanted to get my Master's degree in this area then work as a lobbyist helping people who have developmental disabilities their fullest available rights.
I am a facility contract negotiator for a large health insurer. Work from home full time. Been doing it for 18 years.
Education and Program Development.
Prior to starting two NFPs, and developing two other programs, I taught education majors at the college level for 6 years.
Right now I am the Chief officer of a HS Cooperative, and a full-time HouseFrau.
Night Auditor/Income Auditor at a hotel. Love the job but HATE the hours!!!!
I am certified in English, Dance, and counseling. I move fluidly between the three. I mostly enjoy teaching Dance to grades 4 and up. I like counseling because I have more freedom from bells and achievement tests. I like teaching English as it opens doors to overseas work.
Chief Executive Officer of an NGO. I enjoy it very much most of the time. There are also stressful times - particularly dealing with some staff members.
