JFF: Were Your Kids Born with Hair or Did You Have a Baldy?

All 3 of my kids were born with a ton of hair but my youngest had the most. I think we were able to put her hair in a little "on top" ponytail at 2 or 3mths (seriously). She just turned 3 in August and her hair is almost to her butt. So, that had me thinking about the kids that are born with no hair. Just curious how many kids are born with or without hair. I know its a stupid question but its late and I'm bored and can't think of anything else to ask about...lol!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for the replies..it appears there aren't too many baldy's out there...All 3 of mine were also born with naturally curly hair but only my oldest kept it. My youngest, who has the really long hair, has poker straight hair now...wish it was still curly-it would really be beautiful.

My 2 boys were born with blond peach fuzz. My daughter was born with quite a bit of dark hair which then fell out a month later! She's now three and her hair is just about to her butt too.

Hi A.~
My twins had just a little "peach fuzz." My three siblings and I were born baldies too. It took my kids quite awhile before it looked like they had some hair. My daughter is very proud though, because at the age of 7, she donated over 10 inches to Locks of Love:-)

My son had a head full of blonde hair. The nurses were cooing over it before the rest of his little body had even been delivered! It was long on top.

My daughter had hair too, but it was the fine blonde that is practically invisible. It took awhile to be thick enough and long enough for anyone to be able to SEE it.... I could brush it, but it was just so fine and blonde...

Neither of them were ever bald. Everyone tried to say that it would fall out at some point, but it certainly never fell out faster than they grew more. And I never found baby hairs in the crib, lol. You shoulda seen my little toe-heads! :)

Full head of hair, but not really enough to play with. If her hair was not curly, it would be well down her back. She is also 3.

My DD was born with a head FULL of long black hair. It was really thick, and sooo cute! I was able to put her hair in ponytails and pigtails while she was still in the hospital. (a lot easier then, when she slept through it! lol) She was pretty hairy on her back too... even though she was a week post-due.

BUT...by the time she was 3 months old, most of it had fallen out. She had the most horrible 'old man' hairdo... receding hairline, bald spot on the top and sides, with a thin area in between. She looked so goofy! (in a super-cute kinda way. lol)

Now she is 17 months, and it is down to her shoulder blades, really thick, and curly. It grew back in brown, but in the past few months I have been noticing hints of R.. Crossing my fingers!!! :)

Hair! (a lot)

Stayed, as well. Most in my family are born with hair, and then it all falls out and comes in a different color. I was born with black hair, fell out after a few months and became golden blonde. We've had black, blonde, brown, redhaired babies... who lose it and become any shade EXCEPT what they were born with. Our eyes, though, have stayed consistently the same since birth. Blue, hazel, green, brown.

Quirky pigments in my family, apparently.

Our daughter was born with hair, but when we took her photos it did not look like she had hair. As she got older.. that child can grow hair. Tons of it, with body and with curls..

Every person that has ever cut it says the same thing.. "Gosh this is a ton of hair! "

I was born bald as a bat. I stayed that way for THREE years. Tee hee hee. All cheeks and no hair. My mom kids that she pasted bows on my head so people knew I was a girl (you could usually find me covered in outdoor muck and overalls).

My daughter was born with HAIR. Lots and lots of curly black hair. It became thinner for a few months and then started growing in again. When it's wet it's past her shoulders, but dry it barely passes her ears.

My 1st was born w/ the tiniest amount of brown fuzz.
Her brother was born w/ a head full of bright orange-y yellow hair.
Which later fell out just like a man's does (kept the sides and back) and grew back orange.

With my DD I had horrible heartburn-I didn't want to eat anything.
I kept waiting and waiting for the heartburn to set in w/ my DS, but it never did.
He brought me other (equally bad) problems. ;)

My son was born with no hair at all. No eyebrows, no eyelashes, nothing. He is now almost 4 and just started getting regular haircuts within the last 6 months.

My daugher was born with dark black hair that was long in the back. She is now 2 years old and has beautiful spiral curled light blonde hair. It is really long in the back still, when it is wet it's past her shoulders. I just don't have the heart to even it all out one length since the sides and front are not past her chin yet.

I thought that mine was going to be born with a head full of hair because we could plainly see it on all the ultrasounds (I had a lot). I guess he had a little hair when he was born, but it was really thin and light so he looked bald until he was 6 months old! :(

Of my first, 2 were peach fuzz and one was a head full of dark hair. My girl with peach fuzz had curly hair until she was in 2nd grade, now just wavy. My girl with all the hair could get her hair fixed at 6 months. Her hair is now a bit lightert. My youngest had dark hair at birth and it is now a light brown/dark blond. Her hair is almost at her butt also.

My daughter was born with a mowhawk -- honestly! Her first few month of life it was hilarious. It was about 3 inches long and stood straight up. If only I could post a picture, just thinking about it makes me laugh. Oh and when she was about 5 months, we were on vacation in Tahoe, hanging out at our cabin and my husband gave her a buzz, that was not a good look either. She is now 5 and has the most gorgeous, thick, shiny blonde hair.

Son was a baldy.

My daughter was born with that perfect bit of fuzzy baby head. Now she is 4 and has some natural curl to her hair but it's also fine and tends to take a long time to grow and gets more snarly the longer it gets - so I tend to keep it cut short in a bob, although now she is asking to grow it longer!

My daughter was bald, bald, bald! She's almost 3 and has about as much hair as a 1 year old :) Funny to look back on it now. I had so much heartburn when I was pregnant with her I thought she might have a full head of hair. That's what all my friends said. Well, I think all the heartburn burned her hair right off and left her with none! :)

all 3 were born with hair. My older son had a comb-over of straight hair. Headful of fuzzy duck hair from about 4 months on.

My daughter had so many curls that the NICU nurses kept her hair accessorized!

My younger son had a ton of hair. Many, many parents were jealous of how much hair he had! By 4 months the back of his head was almost bald, but then he bounced back quickly. By 15 months he had so much hair ....that on his 1st haircut, I kept a baggie full of it....& threw away a shopping bag full! It took 4 suckers to keep him still long enough for the barber to cut his hair.... Now at age 15, he has a head full of the coarsest, wiry curls. He keeps them chopped off, because he hates the curls! & girls of all ages love them.... Oh, & right now, he has a thick/wide mohawk...just like Puck on Glee. Yep, the girls are happy....

You know the old wives tale about if you have heartburn you baby will come out with a full head of hair? I was bald til I was three...

So when I had the worst heartburn ever with my daughter, and I heard that old wives tale...I was so EXCITED, a little girl with hair, I won't ever have to correct people shes a girl. (BTW I'm not a girly girl in the sense of bows and pretty things in our hair).

So she's born, I look over and my first two thoughts were...Where heck is her hair? and Damn it!

Yes I know bad, bad, bad mom...but I really believed it.

When my son was born, I didn't really have heart burn and didn't really want to get up my expectations. Thank goodness I didn't...

I had two COMPLETELY bald kids!

My siblings and I were all baldies for a long time. I thought for sure my son would be a baldy too. However, he came out with a full head of hair, darker at the roots and white-blond at the tips - looked like someone frosted his hair while in utero. I called it his surfer-dude look.

He still has an unbelievably full head of hair, but not sure how long it will last - a lot of early-onset male pattern baldness in our family.

Bald Bald Bald!

I have two girls... My eldest will be 3 in December and her hair is about 3 inches long, and shorter in the front. I am so jealous when I see little girls rockin' two little ponytails at her age... when she still has the little "sprouts" when I give her pony tails... and my four month old has NO hair- I mean it is literally just peach fuzz up there!

But they do make up for it with pristine porcelain skin and huge blue eyes!

But yes... I am crossing my fingers that my girls will have a decent amount of hair by the time they go into kindergarten!

I'm pregnant with my second, and hoping that our little girl will be born with hair like her daddy's when he was a baby... at one, he had curls so long that they'd reach his bum when wet... crossing my fingers! :) Of course, I'll love a little baldie just the same, but still HOPING for hair on this one!

I was born with a ton of blonde hair. Enough that at 4 months, my mom gave me a perm! I always had really thinck hair and the hairdressers always commented on how much I had for a blonde. Now that I'm almost 51, my hair has thinned considerably. I am still blonde, and don't color it, and wear it just past my shoulders. I need an update as my youngest tells me, I just don't know what to do with it. Short hair is so much work for me. My oldest was also born with a ton of long blonde hair, at least 2 " long, platinum blonde, and never lost any of it. At 17, she still has beautiful light blonde hair and it is thick. My youngest was also born with a ton of hair only it was dark brown and short. She lost a bunch in the back, kind of like the reverse of old men with fringe around their head. Her hair was always thinner than older sisters. It has gotten considerably thicker over the years. It changed from dark brown to auburn to blonde in the first year. At 15, it is getting darker blond, but she has a ton. You wouldn't believe how big around her pony tail is. She has let it grow to past her waist but generally wears it in a pony tail, braid or bun. (I think she is tired of taking care of it, because she doesn't like to wash it everyday anymore, but refuses to cut it.)
