Shepherd's Pie. It is my kids favorite, and it always looks and tastes delicious. My nephew recently brought his new girlfriend over and that is what I made for her, and she ate 2 helpings.
My egg roll, fried rice and steamed veggies meal ALWAYS turns out great. So i cook this when we have sudden guests. I just know it will turn out and i keep ingredients on hand for this meal. What is something you make that you like and it turns out great each time you make it?

I'm proud to cook my moms legacy meals...her lasagna and her stuffing always get raves.
I get a lot of requests for triple chocolate cake.
I'm really proud when I serve Baklava or Tira Misu. They are both painstakingly detailed and meticulously authentic recipies, but they make a beautiful presentation that people ooh and ahh over.
I also like to do fun cool things to serve fruit, like fruit skewers sticking out of a cut cantelope full of fruit dip or melon balls in a fancy carved watermelon rind. I like to make things look festive and pretty when entertaining. My family is the crock pot and paper plate crowd, so they go nuts when I show up with a strawberry topiary or something they say is too pretty to eat.
Meal: Stuffed shells.
Appetizers: Mushrooms stuffed with stuffing and sausage and brushetta.
Dessert: Brownies
(Seems like we stuff a lot, doesn't it? LOL)
Hmm... tough to pick just one. Top favs: chili, meatloaf, veggie lasagna, and veggie pizza. All those except the meatloaf, I'm begged to bring to functions, every single time.
Now I'm hungry, you ladies c'mon over ;) Someone bring dessert!
White lasagna - make with homemade alfredo sauce and ham and chicken. Super fattening but delish!
My husband, myself, and my friends agree: I cook THE BEST fried fish, shrimp, and crawfish etouffe. I also make beignet bourees which are great. (Stuffed with fruit or rice/etouffe).
When having a guest over that I want to impress, I cook smothered filet mignon topped with gorgonzola (this is awesome, marinated in balsamic vinegar, rosemary, dijon, and other stuff), with some special marinated green beans, garlic mashed red potatoes, and an apple cheesecake. That's my "go to dish" when someone comes over for a dinner party for the first time.
My spaghetti sauce is really good and so is my eggpant parm...always. Other than that it's hit or miss and uaually a miss.
I make home made manicotti. I make the shells from scratch in the "old way." They're light and fluffy and AMAZING.
tamales!, works every time!
Anything that tastes good and everyone likes/loves! I'm not a "good" cook and will NOT make it if it has more than 5 ingredients or too many steps! =)
I have a chicken and biscuit casserole dish that turns out great every time I make it for family and friends.
Sweet Basil Italian Sausage Lasagna
Everyone else's favorite of mine:
Grilled Salmon with all kinds of sides: rice, grilled asaparagus and other veggies,
Kalbi (Korean marinated ribs) served with steamed rice, seaweed, kimchi, lettuce leaves and a sweetened, red pepper paste....yum...
I make a fabulous Thanksgiving Meal - ALL is homemade from scratch, even the rolls, the desserts, the cranberry relish....not one canned or processed item on the table.
Standing Prime Rib Roast with garlic mashed potatoes and big green salad.
Homemade sloppy joe
asian ramen salad
Apple Pie
Meat empanadas with cilantro/green onion/vinegar to dip into. My hubby LOVES it and so do my girls..minus the cilantro dip. The empanadas are basically wontons filled with ground beef and mashed potatos then baked.
smoked chicken chili.
Chicken pot pie - same thing about keeping the ingredients on hand in case I need to throw something together. It always comes out delicious, & my kids can put a pretty good dent in one themselves! I'd love a good fried rice recipe, if you'd share :)
chicken enchiladas
white chicken chili
seafood manicotti
baked ziti
chicken noodle soup w/ homemade noodles
My potato soup, lasagna, cornbread are all THE BOMB.
(Thanks for giving me an opportunity to toot my horn.)
It's seasonal but I still love to make it. Pumpkin bread from scratch using real pumpkin not the canned stuff. :-) It never stays around the house.
No brainer for me: 1) eggplant parmigiana and 2 )lasagna!
Sweet green curry (but I don't always have the all of the ingredients)
au gratin potatoes
baking powder biscuits
potato soup
onion soup
all soups, actually...
And I can throw a stir fry together with anything on hand. All the time. It's a sickness, the condiments we have in this house.
Chili :) my son loves it and will tell me I'm the best cook ever everytime I make it
Deer enchiladas --- my husband gobbles them up, then I made them for a friend recently (dropped the enchiladas off) and her husband called a few hours later and said "That was deer? How did you make that? That was so yummy!"
My chicken spaghetti. Its always a hit :)
**and its easy to boot!!!
I have 2 meals...1 I love and 1 my guests always love.
My favorite is homemade chicken croquettes. Finely diced chicken mixed with all the other ingredients, rolled in panko bread crumbs then a nice gravy poured on top. Yum-O!
My guests favorite or my chicken quesadillas. The best (yummiest) way to cook them is to pan cook the tortillas in butter....SO good and crispy! Nice fresh salsa and sour cream in the side. How can you go wring with that?!
Hmmm...that turkey sandwich I brought to work for lunch isn't sounding that good anymore. :(
Chicken enchiladas, my recipe highly involved, but soooooo good.
Everyone loves my coleslaw. They request it.
Prosciutto and roasted corn side dish. Hands down everyone's favorite thing here.....my burgers are killer I have heard. I dont eat red meat...so I would not know:)
Green chile chicken enchiladas and lasagna!
I have a few that I'm proud of, but the first one that comes to mind is my chicken enchiladas. My 'little' sister is now a vegetarian, but if she is around and I make these, she will eat them! She is one to be healthy, no other reason. But, they must be good if she gives that up for a meal!
