Jogging Stroller Question - Naperville,IL

I have a pretty dumb question for any of you runner moms out there. Do you ever run with just one child in a double jogging stroller? I have a Bob Revolution Duallie, and I love it. I use it all the time when I take my two boys with me to pick up my daughter from school. My older son will be starting preschool two days a week this fall. So that means that I will only have my younger son in the mornings. I can't afford to join a gym, but I still want to go running.

Here is my question: Is it horribly imbalanced to run with just one kid in the stroller? I'm talking about a 9 minute mile pace. I would think with the Bob, it shouldn't be too bad. I suppose I could always throw a bag of sand in the other seat to even things out a bit :-) I guess I can try it out for myself, but I'm wondering if other mommas do this. I have a friend who is selling her single Bob Revolution, and I'm tempted to buy it. But I don't want to spend the money if I don't have to.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks so much for your input! I think I'll pass on buying the single stroller and just run with one kid in the double. I really don't have room in the garage for yet another stroller anyway :-)

I have seen some moms running with only one kid in a double... and they don't seem to have any issues...

I would go with the sand idea though! Hey, more workout for your time! :)

i run all the time with just one of my kids in the bob rev duallie. i live in a town with lots of hills, and i think it's way easier to ride with just one! don't think i've noticed an imbalance...one of my girls is 3, the other is 1, so even when they are both in, each side would weigh in differently...
happy jogging :)

I have done this and didn't notice any problems. But I honestly wasn't paying that good of attention. And I jog slowly, so I don't want to mislead you and say it's perfectly fine.

We have a pricey double jogger but a reasonable single jogger, if that helps. More room gets taken up in the garage, though.
I thought I might take my son running with me, too (and we live close, in the same climate). But honestly it's so cold...I just don't think it's for us. I would be fine and still run, but the little one, hmmm. So I tend to run at night in the winter.

I joined a gym with babysitting after carefully considering my options with 4 children. I can say that I GO. I pencil it into my calender and take classes. It's been the best decision I ever made. They push me harder than I ever would myself. There are new gyms popping up all the time, so maybe you'd get lucky.

I hope you find what works for you. That's great that you want to keep running!

I also run with one child in the BOB revolution duallie pretty often and have never noticed any imbalance. (Don't you love this stroller?!?) :)

When my younger daughter is riding by herself, she likes to put a baby doll and a couple of books in the other seat, so it's nice for her too..
