Im a mess. Literally. I just wrote a post yesterday about all the hardships I am facing & today really got me. Im in a pickle & I have no idea what to do. Im in tears as im typing so excuse any typos. I woke up to a really swollen lump on the side of my ear. It was hurting so I went to the doctors & It was time to get my son so I left picked him up ( i already was stressing) then made it back to docs. He said it looks like saliva blockage in the canal? I didnt really understand I had my 2 kids in the room one was crying & the other was being loud so all I heard was he was prescribing an antibiotic & if it doesnt fet better then we would try something different. So I am rushing to get prescription to a pharmasy I didnt recognize address & my I was looking at directions when clump...I hit a car in front of me!!! Yes Stupid me tapped the back en of a car. So I pulled over & the lady was pissed! She started yelling at me & insulting me she wanted to call the cops. I was like hey, I get it here is my number & name & I will get if fixed. Well, I call my husband "& he informs me that I am not on the insurance & he is upset :/ So I have no idea what now? I understand it is my fault & I am going to have to get her car fixed. ( really it was just scratches no dents) but she wanted to call the cops so I got scared because I had my kids in the car & It wasnt a huge accident she was stopped & I hit her but everyone was fine. I did give her insurance info that was in the car but Im not on policy. I gave her my number & she wrote down my license #. So what can happen? What should I do now? It's been a horrible day & I still have tons to do. We have a busy week but all I want to do is crawl under a rock. *sigh*

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks you for the hugs & well wishes! I really needed that. I fee a lot better. Still taking meds & will see doc for follow up in a week. Thanks Shannon R!!! I was feeling so stressed already & I think I just needed to vent again, & comforting words help. I did take pictures of her vehicle with my cell phone. I gave her all my info & I admitted fault & apologized. She was very rude & disrespectful. She wouldn't even give me her info!! I get it she was upset but It was an accident for a reason & I didnt' deserve the way she treated me. I was vulnerable & let her get the best of me :/ I do have a license but the damages was minimal so I didnt see a need for a cop since I told her I would fix it. My husband took care of everything. He called her & after she spoke to her husband he told her it want worth it to get the insurance involved because It WAS minor so they asked for $200 cash. So my husband met her today & paid her & she signed a paper stating the agreement. It's over done with lesson learned. I am so grateful to have such a loving & supportive famiy that gave me great advise & this too shall pass. Thanks for listening :)

It's not you that's insured, it's the cars. So unless your husband didn't buy insurance for the car itself, you should be ok. No matter who drives the car, the car should be covered.

It doesn't matter if you're on the policy or not. AS LONG AS your husband gave his "permission" to you to drive the car, you're covered. As would anyone else who drove the car with the insured owner's permission.

I would have called the cops. PURELY because my insurance needs a police report with every claim.

I am so sorry. This is exactly why a woman should never trust her husband or boyfriend to handle everything. I'm not saying all men lie or are irresponsible. But, if they are, then it's still your hide when you get in trouble. You were driving. It's your butt in the sling for driving without insurance..... That is, if that's what you mean. I agree with the others, if the car insured, it won't matter that you were driving. I just hope he doesn't mean, his car is covered and yours is not. That's what my dad did to me when I was 16. He gave me a car to drive, then put someone else's plates on the car. The car was not titled and back then, insurance wasn't required. I was very naive at that age. The only thing you can HOPE to do is try and get the woman to calm down. Otherwise, PRAY.

I'll pray that everything works out and I hope you feel better soon.

I am so sorry you are having such a bad day. I also had a painful lump on the side of my face below my ear. The doctor said it was drainage and to take aspirin. I did and it went away so don't worry, probably not a big deal at all! And why would your husband take you off the insurance! I know with my insurance that all licensed drivers in the house have to be named as additional drivers unless I specifically exclude them which requires me to sign an actual exclusion doc. The insurance doesn't cover anyone specifically excluded. It will, however, cover anyone driving my car as long as they don't live with me.

Get it together, do not rely upon your husband or anyone else to know what kind of insurance you have. You live in California, you MUST have minimal insurance....."SIGH" my foot...woman take responsibility for your actions. You now face fines and possible suspension of your drivers license. (This may be a blessing in descise)....You should probably, SLOW down, take public transportation or get a friend or relative to drive you for a while. When you are feeling so stressed, ask yourself WHY....when you figure that out, you may not need a perscription.

Blessings......

As long as you have a valid driver's license you are insured. If it is that minor I would pay the damages out of pocket. The accident will go against your insurance and potentially raise the rates.

My son lent his car to a friend who had an accident and was not insured. It was covered but my son had to sell his car because he could no longer afford the insurance. :(

I am sorry sorry! Hugs! Is the car in his name and insurance policy in his name? If so, you are covered. You are a resident relative and permissive user under the policy. I hope you feel better. Get your antibiotic and if you can get some rest do so. It can only get better :)

For starters, in America, the car is insured, not the driver. So, maybe you weren't on the policy, but the insurance will cover the damage. Yes, your premiums will go up, but the insurance will cover it.

Question: why aren't you on the insurance?

I am so sorry you had a bad day. I know - you want a do-over on those kind of days...listen what is your husband talking about? Your car is insured right? You do not have to be "on the insurance". It's the vehicle. Do not worry, it will be okay, you learned your lesson not to do something else while driving, nobody was hurt. Tomorrow will be a better day....

I am not sure how it works in CA, but in PA, if you are a "permissive user" of a vehicle, it would still be covered under the vehicle's policy. Call your agent's office and find out exactly what's what.

Hope things turn around for you...

As long as the car you were driving is insured, the insurance will pay it. It doesn't matter if its your name or your husbands name on the insurance. It will be ok. Your premiums might go up though.

I am sorry you are having such a bad day. I hope things get better. You sound due for an upswing lol. Hang in there. ((HUGS))

Yeah, your day really sucks... so sorry! I hope you get to have a relaxing evening :)

Also, it's fairly typical for the person to call the cops, even in tiny fender benders like this, so don't be too upset over it. In fact, it probably would have been better for the cops to show up, so that the lady can't claim you did even more damage to her car than just the scratches.

Call the insurance company and make sure your car is insured and under policy, if so, it shouldn't matter if your name isn't also on the policy.
