My main suggestion would be just relax. Try and just let things happen for a while and see how it works. Don't worry too much about there being a problem if there is no reason to. Stress is huge inhibitor so don't let it take over. Just enjoy.
My husband and I , both 30, are trying to have our first child. I got off Nuva Ring 3 months ago.... I guess that does not mean I will get pregnant as soon as I take it off. My periods are regular and I am planning to start taking prenatal vitamins. Do you guys have a suggestion on which one I should start with? I dont have any allergies and am healthy. Also, when do you suggest going to a doctor to make sure things are fine with him and me?
Thanks for your help
S.
Thank you one and all for all your helpful suggestions. I just added the book "Taking Charge of your Fertility" on amazon. I will keep you all updated. Thanks again!

My doctor told me to give it 12 months of trying before moving on to testing. Sometimes, it just takes a little time...
The book Taking Charge of your Fertility by Toni Weschler can be helpful. I got one from Half Price Books, but there are multiple editions, so you might get an older one if you buy it used.
And, of course, make sure you're already taking prenatal vitamins.
I take the Target brand of pre-natal vitamins--they are much cheaper than the name-brands but have the same nutrients.
As for trying to get pregnant, it often takes at least 3 months for the hormones from the pills/ring to work their way out of your system and for you to be fertile again, so just because it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't or that something is wrong. If you want to become more aware of your fertility signs, you can try www.fertilityfriend.com. They have both a free membership and a paid VIP membership, and when you sign up, they send you a series of lessons on fertility signs and charting. You enter your temperature and mucus signs, and they chart your fertility for you online. The VIP membership even has a red light/green light to indicate when you should have sex to get pregnant. :) Good luck!!
Whatever you take, just make sure it has at least 800 mcg of folic acid. My OB recommends a full mg, if possible. I might also recommend Taking Charge of Your Fertility by T. Weschler. It's really a must-read for all women, but especially if you are TTC. Best wishes!
I will third the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility. Run do not walk to your closest bookstore and get a copy.
I am pretty sure we are done having kids, but from this book I still know which days I am fertile and when I am not...we use it as almost a form of birth control...
It taught me so much about my body and how my body works. You will end up knowing more about your body than anyone has ever taught you. For instance with out this book I would never have known I don't ovulate until day 26 of my cycle. (I was always taught you ovulated on day 14).
Every single time my husband and I have tried to get pregnant we have done so usually the first cycle we tried but within two cycles. (I have been pregnant eight times, we have had 6 miscarriages...but there were other issues involved).
Oh, prenatals...it has been awhile, but one brand I took made me really irritable. So, if you feel weird on one brand try another.
Hugs!!
Concerning your question about seeing the doctor: Depends on what you mean. Seeing an OB/Gyn to be sure you are healthy before getting pregnant -- now. Seeing an OB/Gyn because you think you are having problems getting pregnant -- at your age, TTC for 1 year with no results would be the criteria. Most couples find that trying TOO hard is counter-productive, so just enjoy the ride!
I'll second the book, Taking Charge of Your Fertility. The book is magic. Seriously, everyone of my friends has gottne pregnant within 3 months of reading the book. Half priced books always has a copy - and it's amazing to learn what you thought you knew about your body!
Just have fun! Good luck.
I take Nature's Plus Mega-Prenatal. You can find it Sun Harvest.
I like the prenatals from Costco. They are cheap and no weird side effects. I wouldn't think you would need to see a doctor now. Just go for it. If you aren't pregnant within 6 mos to a year, then see a doctor to help you speed things along. If you are really anxious to get pregnant, I recommend buying a ovulation microscope. They are cheapest on Ebay. I got pregnant twice using it. The first time was on our first try. The second time within 4 months. Good luck to you!
I have heard from many other people (and my own experience) that after birth control it could take at least 6 or 8 months to conceive. I went to the doctor before we tried to find out which of my medications would be safe if i became pregnant. I started prenatel months before which is a really good idea to prevent birth defects. I liked Walgreens Nature Made prenatel vitamins. I do not mind the way they taste and I think they have good ratios of diff vitamins.
Good Luck!
It took me 6 months to get preg after getting off Birth Control but I was also still using the pull out method at times. Anyway I took vitamins to get my body ready for the baby before I conceived Just relax take you time exercise take vitamins now don't wait for the Dr to tell you. If i may recommend Vitalizer from Shaklee but u will need to get a little extra B Vitamin... its all natural. This is just my opinion here it a video I pulled from You Tube its alil boot leg but it explains things. I was 28 when I had my first so just pray, and take care of yourself it will happen Oh and hve fun while doing it.

I took Elevit although I don't think the brand matters so much, as long as it has everything you need in one tablet. I think the doctors say it's best to have at least 400 micrograms of folic acid (helps prevent spina bifida) so check the label when comparing brands.
I know you are anxious and just want it to happen now that you have decided to try for a baby but I wouldn't worry yet about going to see a doctor. If you want your husband to take a "pre-natal vitamin" as well, they also make Menevit although I don't really know what it does!
The best advice I can give you is to see a midwife for your pregnancy. You will get much better care and your birth experience will be much better.

Talk to your OBGYN she may want to write you a pres. For a higher dose pren. Vit. Mine did! What I did was to have sex every other day during the time I was ovulating. I was told not to have sex everyday as that lowers the semen count. Sometime too, when taking out a device such a nuva ring, it could take 3-6 months maybe a year to concieve. Sounds like you don't want to qait though so I would ask the doc about what is a good time for you to wait. Best of luck to you!!!
I suggest going to the dr. now to get everything checked out and have her prescribe you prenatal vitamins.
There are a few things you can do to try and conceive. First when you get your cycle, count 14 days from the first day of that cycle. Plan on trying on days like 12-15 or 16. It's fun and you should be at your most fertile. Also watch for changes in your cervical mucus, this will let you know that you are ovulating. When you are getting ready to go the mucus will get tacky and cloudy kind of like cloudy, sticky jelly. Then when you notice it come out in greater quantity and it is runny, kind of like egg whites you are ready to go:) After I got off the pill I had like a 9 day period or something, so I thought that my hormones would be all out of whack, but just a few days later I noticed what I was explaining to you above and was so happy to see I was already back in the game. We went for it and are now 6 months prego with #2! So if you do not notice these changes, your body may still be getting back on course, but as others have said you will level out again. You can also purchase ovulation sticks at the store and just follow the instructions to try and predict your most fertile times. I agree with the other posters, I know you are ready but I wouldn't get worried yet it takes lots of couples several months to conceive. Good luck and have fun trying;)
Don't rush to the Doctor just yet, it took me 9mo exactly with both of my girls to get pregnant after getting off of birth control. The time to get prego is 10 to 12 days before your period. Just take your time.
You should go to the Dr. now to make sure you are healthy. Let the Dr. know you are trying to conceive and he will give you a prescription for prenatal vitamins and some other guidelines to follow! Good Luck!
I would wait on going to the doctor for at least a year. It took my husband and I 9 months to get pregnant. With that being said, I would go see the doctor about getting prenatal vitamins by prescription that way with your insurance it might be $10 vs $28 for vitamins at the drugstore. Happy trying :)
I think that if you try for more than a year you should see a dr. untill then have fun. Try not to make it a chore otherwise you both will lose interest.
Just relax and HAVE FUN TRYING!!! :-)
I've heard people to try so hard that they work themselves up and don't conceive. I've known of several couples who were about to give up and adopt (one of which actually DID adopt) only to get pregnant when they stopped trying so hard.
ENJOY YOURSELF!!!
