We just have a wide mouth thermos from Target, I think the brand is actually Thermos. The trick is to fill it with boiling water for about 2 minutes before putting the super hot left-overs in it. That way they will still be hot at lunch time. It also helps if the food in the thermos is water based, like soup, as opposed to left over mac & cheese.

I agree with the poster below: We have Thermos wide-mouth ones from Target. If you warm them up with boiling water first, food stays warm for hours. You don't want it to stay really hot though, since that would increase the mushy factor.

I use HOT tap water in my daughter's thermos and the times she has not finished lunch and I open it when she gets home it is still warm about 7.5 to 8 hours later.. but just make sure to use the ones that have the double wall on them. We never have a problem with giving her left over mac and cheese in it or soup :)

The "Thermos" brand.

My friend uses that for her kids/school/work/for herself.

Also, put it in an insulated bag. This works for hot or cold items. Because it is insulated.

Nothing will be as hot as hot off the stove.
It will be kept warm/hot. And pretty 'hot.'

Is your daughter particular, that is HAS TO BE "hot" hot?

Kids that age, usually have lunch before noon. The younger one's have lunch even by 11:00am. So by the time you pack their lunch in the morning before leaving the house, it won't have to be in the thermos for very long. Not all day at all.
