Alright. I am looking for good stable ways to keep my weight down. With both of the boys I gained 60+ pounds... Yeah, totally not proud of that. This time I want to at least stay at the same weight due to the fact I am 30 pounds over weight. 175 at 5'5" Not fat but definitely over the scale.

I need good advice to keep weight down. Right now I am eating high protein, and VERY healthy. I try to walk a lot. What else can I do?

If you are pregnant there are only a few things you can do. Eat more healthy foods than junk foods. I heard from some where that if you walk constantly that the weight will fall off after pregnancy so I did just that and the weight came off easier than my other pregnancies. I would say eat healthy, walk everyday (under doctors orders and pregnancy yoga to stay flexable.

Eat less. Exercise more. It's as simple as that. But are you pregnant? If so, talk to your doctor about how much weight you should gain. Your growing baby needs fats and proteins and some of that should come from food, not your existing fat stores.

If loosing weight was as easy as gaining weight, I'd already be skinny.

The body is like a bank account. You take some calories out every day in the process of living. You add calories every day when you eat or drink.

Look up the foods that you like that have very few calories. If there is something you like that has more or higher fiber, eat more of that. Stop eating or drinking high calorie drinks like soda. IF you must drink soda, make it the diet soda. Drink lots of water. My first success in loosing weight was because I quit eating high starch foods and high starch/high sugar foods like ice cream, cake, pie, bread, buscuits, and cookies. I lost 30 lbs over three months. I gave up bacon and hot dogs because its so high in calories and salt.

I had a garden and grew tomatoes. I had some small tomatoes (Juliet hybrid) that had wonderful tomato flavor. I ate them as snacks instead of chips and dip. It took an adjustment and some battles of will power, but I took in three or 4 knotches on my belt and all my pants fit very loose.

The last diet I was on that gave me big losses was the "6 week body make over". They guarentee they will buy back the program and shipping if you don't loose two pants sizes in 6 weeks. I lost two pants sizes in two weeks and kept it off as long as I watched my diet.

Good luck to you and yours.

Keep a food journal for a few weeks and then evaluate what you can cut down on. Where are your excesses? What can you eliminate or cut down on easily?
Examples (these are mine):
I have a night eating issue where I wake and eat in the middle of the night. I have done this for my whole life! I realized I consume an average of 300 per night and if I can overcome that, over a course of 6 months I should be able to lose 12 lbs.
I switched from whole to skim milk in my coffee, thus cutting out 70 calories a day. Then I switched to black coffee a few weeks later. Should be able to lose 5 lbs in 6 months this way.
I eat healthy during the day but snack a lot after dinner and I binge on the weekends. It cancels out all the healthy eating during the day. Working on a game plan for those.

Also get a food scale. I never portion out veggies and eat as much as I want of those, but I weigh out my meat/poultry, high fat items, measure dressings etc. You quickly start to realize that you may have been mistaken on what a portion size is.

Close the kitchen after dinner. The kids are always wanting more food and treats but then my husband and I are tempted to keep eating, too. We eat healthy but hearty dinners and nobody really is hungry afterward, they just want treats and there is no good reason for it.

Good luck!

I understand that it's better to eat more smaller meals than fewer large meals. That way you don't stretch your stomach out and you will feel full longer. Along those same lines, only eat until you are satisfied - not full, just satisfied. Again, so you don't stretch your stomach out so it takes less food to fill you up.

Good luck!

I did a 12 week program that I loved. It teaches you how to eat real food and how to really read labels. I have found in the past that you have to like the program you are doing in order to stick with it. This one was fairly easy although I miss my dunkin donuts. :)
I also learned that accountability is key. You need someone holding you accountable. This one is all done online.
I can email you the information if you would like it. You can check it out.

I had this issue with my third pregnancy as well. I gained 50 lbs the first time, lost 20 in between pregnancies, then gained 30lbs with the second one. So I was up 60 lbs total after the first two kids. I struggled with losing any weight and started the third pregnancy at 196 lbs. Yikes!!!! I was determined to gain very little weight, and when I was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes, I had to start eating a diabetic diet. This was very little carbs, lots of protein and veggies, lots of water, no junk food or sweets. This helped me only gain 20 lbs which I lost within 6 weeks of giving birth.

Try adding more exercise. Walking is great, but try some prenatal yoga and swimming. Swimming is a wonderful exercise for pregnancy. It takes all of the pressure off.

Good luck!

Just limit your calories.
Period.
There's no magic to it.
As a woman, the MOST you should be taking in on a daily basis is 1800 calories, unless you are training for something. Doesn't sound like you are.
Weight loss/maintenance is a simple formula of calories in, calories out.
You can eat all the healthy food you want, but if you're eating more than your body needs, you're going to put on weight.

I take in no more than 1400/day, on top of my workouts. That's what I need for maintenance. Over 6 months, I've dropped 15 lbs.

Use something to track your intake. Everything. Even your coffee or "handful of XX" that you may grab. You'll be AMAZED how fast it adds up. From there, you can start making adjustments.

LOTS OF WATER!!! lots of green veggies. vitimans and ten lbs lost a month goals. i currently am looking into the RealW8 supplements. most are vitimans but some idk what they are and havent had time to research. if its all natural why not take a healthy boost? Before kids I lost 80 lbs by eathing lean meat, few fruit, evoo, healthy nuts, green veggies, walking 30 min every day, and drinking mineral water while taking vitimans, calcium (drinking no milk and only hard cheese), flax seed oil and fish oil suppements. i went to a doctor who tested my blood work and gave me this diet. you might and most likely would need to have more fruits and heathy grains. i have been tested for diabeties over my lifetime several times because i have the symptoms just not the actual diabeties...yet. i am insulin resistant not diabetic but its simular to a diabetic. ugh ty for this i know i cant put it on the back burner any longer and these 20 lb lost in a year just isnt cutting it for me any longer!

Journal *everything* you eat and *every* walk or other exercise you do. Do it even when you're having a "bad day." You'll be able to see patterns in your eating and your lifestyle and realize, "Oh, I know how to make this or that better."

If there's a gym near you, consider joining it if you can. You'll have some other exercise options and maybe even some fun classes. If the gym has good child care, your boys may enjoy it, too.

You want to expend as many calories as you take in if you want to maintain your weight. How well your walking works depends on a number of things, including your walking speed and how long your walks are.

Remember, you're really looking at a lifestyle change, not a quick fix.

I don't think most of the reponders realize that you are pregnant. This is not the time to diet, but to take good care of yourself and that precious little one that you are responsible for nourishing. Most of the previous suggestions can still apply but with careful supervision from your doctor. He or she would certainly be able to give you recommendations of how much weight you should gain given your situation. Best of luck to you and take care!
